EL MILLONARIO VE A UNA MESERA EMBARAZADA… Y QUEDA EN SHOCK AL DESCUBRIR QUE ES SU EXESPOSA !

The millionaire sees his pregnant ex-wife working as a waitress.  What he discovered next changed everything. Alejandro Salazar was used to everything going his way.  At 35, he had built a technology company that grew every year and had given him a fortune that few imagined when he started from the bottom. That night he arrived at one of the most elegant restaurants in Mexico City.

It was a place with soft lighting, well-arranged tables, and calming music that filled the atmosphere without disturbing conversations.  He entered confidently wearing a dark suit that looked tailor-made for him. Walking beside him was Camila Torres, his new girlfriend. She was 26 years old, had a perfect smile, and a confidence that drew attention.

They had only been dating for two months, but the relationship was progressing quickly.  Camila seemed to fit in very well with Alejandro’s world , always elegant, always kind to others, [music] always ready to accompany him to the most exclusive places.  A host greeted them at the entrance and led them to a table near a large window overlooking the brightly lit avenue.

From there you could see the movement of the city, the cars passing by and the lights reflecting on the pavement.  [music] Camila looked around the place with enthusiasm as she arranged her bag on the chair [music] and leaned slightly towards the table to observe the decoration in more detail. “This place is beautiful,” she said with a smile that showed her excitement without trying to hide it.

Alejandro smiled when he saw her like that.  He liked that reaction because it reminded him that he could offer a life full of new experiences. “I’m glad you like it,” she replied as she picked up the menu. I reserved this table because they say it’s the best in the restaurant.  A waiter arrived to deliver the menus and then left with a respectful gesture.

Camila began to look at the menu with curiosity while Alejandro looked around.  It was a habit he had for years.  He always observed everything that was happening around him, even when he seemed to be relaxed.  It was part of the way he ran his business. Always attentive to every detail.  The restaurant was full.

Some couples spoke in hushed tones while sharing a bottle of wine.  At another table, a group of businessmen were discussing something with animated gestures.  The waiters walked back and forth with trays full of elegant dishes.  Everything seemed normal, like any other night in a place of that caliber.

Camila looked up after a few seconds and pointed to a part of the menu.  “I think I’ll order the salmon,” she said enthusiastically.  “It looks incredible.”  Alejandro nodded as he checked the meat section.  Good choice, [music] responded calmly.  I think I’ll order the ribelle.  They prepare it very well here.

The conversation continued naturally.  They talked about a trip they wanted to take to the beach soon, a business event Alejandro had to attend the following week, and some plans for the weekend. [music] Camila laughed easily and Alejandro felt comfortable with her. There was something simple about the way he spoke that made everything seem light.

But at one point Alejandro looked up from the menu to look towards the living room.  I wasn’t looking for anything in particular; it was just an automatic gesture to observe the place while I waited for the waiter to return.  That’s when her gaze suddenly stopped. A woman in a restaurant uniform was walking between the tables .  She carried a tray with glasses and moved carefully so as not to bump into customers or other waiters.

Alejandro squinted slightly, trying to confirm what he was seeing.   His heart began to beat faster.   It could n’t be. The woman took a few more steps forward and turned her face slightly to answer something another waiter said to her. At that moment, the light in the room illuminated her face clearly.  Alejandro felt the air escaping from his chest.

It was Daniela.  Daniela Ramirez.  His ex-girlfriend remained completely still as he watched her.  I hadn’t seen her for 6 months .  6 months since that argument that abruptly ended everything. During that time I had tried not to think about her too much.  He had focused on work, on new projects, on going out with other people.

That’s how he met Camila, but now Daniela was there [music] walking between the tables as if it were just any other night.  Alejandro looked at her more closely and then noticed something that shocked him even more. Daniela was pregnant, there was no way to be mistaken.  The restaurant uniform failed to hide the rounded belly that was already evident.

She moved carefully as she arranged the glasses on a nearby table.  Alejandro felt a void in his stomach.  For a moment he stopped hearing everything that was happening around him.  The conversations in the restaurant, the sound of cutlery, the soft music in the place.  Everything became distant.

His mind started doing calculations almost without him deciding to do so.  It’s been months, the same amount of time since his relationship with Daniela ended.  Camila noticed the change in his expression and left the menu on the table.  All good? He asked, leaning slightly towards him with curiosity.  Alejandro took a second to react.

“Yes, everything’s fine,” she replied with a smile that tried to look natural, but wasn’t true.   She looked back at the living room to make sure she wasn’t imagining things.  Daniela was still there [music] attending to another table with careful movements.  At that moment, she raised her head as she arranged some plates.

Her eyes scanned the restaurant for a moment and then she saw him.  The moment was brief, but intense.  Their eyes met.  Daniela stood still for a second, as if her mind needed to confirm that she was really seeing Alejandro sitting at a table in the restaurant.  Then he lowered his gaze [music] and continued working as if nothing had happened, but Alejandro knew that he had seen him.

Camila spoke again, trying to understand her boyfriend’s change of attitude .  “Alejandro, are you sure you’re okay?” he asked again.  He blinked and forced himself to concentrate on the table. [music] “Yes, I just thought about something at work,” he replied, trying to downplay it .

Camila watched him for a few seconds, although she didn’t insist.  At that moment the waiter returned to take the order.  Alejandro ordered the ribelle and Camila confirmed that she wanted the salmon.  The waiter quickly noted everything down and left.  But Alejandro was barely paying attention to what was happening at the table.

Her mind remained stuck on the same question.  The baby could be his. He tried to clearly recall the last few weeks of his relationship with Daniela.  They had spent a lot of time together.  They had talked about trips, projects, and plans for the future.   They had even mentioned the idea of living together someday.

But everything changed after a heated argument.  An argument that ended with Daniela leaving her apartment and closing the door behind her without looking back.  After that, neither of them ever looked for the other again. So far Camila has taken her glass of water and drunk a little.  Are you sure nothing will happen?  He asked once more.

Alejandro forced a smile.  Everything [music] is good, really.  At that moment, Daniela was approaching her table.  She was carrying a tray with drinks for another couple who were sitting a few steps away from them. Alejandro felt the atmosphere becoming heavy.  Daniela walked by without looking directly at him, placed the glasses on the next table, and spoke to the customers with a professional smile.

It was obvious that she was trying to act completely normal, but Alejandro noticed something else.  Daniela moved carefully, as if the pregnancy was already beginning to weigh on her.  The image hit him hard. [music] Six months.  The calculation kept repeating in his mind.  Camila also looked towards the area where Daniela was working.

“Hey, that waitress looks like she ‘s pregnant,” he commented curiously.  Alejandro felt a lump in his throat.  “Yes,” he replied in a low voice.  “It must be difficult to work like this,” Camila added as she looked back at the menu.  Daniela finished serving that table and started walking towards the door that led to the kitchen.  Before disappearing completely, he looked up once more.

This time it was no coincidence.  He looked directly at Alejandro.  There was no anger in his expression, but neither was there indifference. [music] There was something else that he failed to understand at that moment.  Then Daniela went into the kitchen and disappeared from his sight.  Alejandro stared at the place where he had been with a strange feeling in his chest.

Camila watched him with curiosity, without imagining what was really going on in Alejandro’s mind.  “I think this dinner just got interesting,” she said with a small smile.  But Alejandro knew that the night had just changed completely, because the past had appeared before him without warning.  And that past was expecting a baby who, by all accounts, could be his.

Alejandro tried to refocus on dinner, but he couldn’t anymore.  The image of Daniela walking between the tables kept running through his head.  Every time he looked towards the living room, he expected to see her again, as if he needed to confirm that she was really there and that it hadn’t been an illusion.

The restaurant was still full of conversations and laughter, but for him everything seemed slower, as if the night had changed its rhythm.  Camila was talking about a trip she wanted to take to Tulum.  He was talking about hotels, beaches, and restaurants he had seen on social media.  [music] Alejandro nodded occasionally, but in reality he barely heard half of what she was saying.

Her mind was elsewhere, returning to moments she had tried to forget for months.  He remembered the day he met Daniela.  It was in a coffee shop near his office.  Daniela worked there while finishing a technical degree in administration. Alejandro had come in alone to have coffee before a meeting.  Daniela greeted him with a simple smile, without knowing who he was or how much money he had.

That was one of the things he liked most from the beginning.  With her, everything felt normal.  [music] For weeks he started going to the same cafe almost every day.  At first they spoke little, only as much as necessary to take the order, but little by little the conversation grew.  They started talking about the weather, the traffic, the TV series they watched, until one day Alejandro invited her out.

Daniela accepted without thinking too much about it. The relationship progressed quickly.  Daniela was 30 years old and had a straightforward way of seeing life.  He wasn’t impressed by expensive restaurants or luxury cars.   He preferred walking around the city, going to the movies, or eating tacos at street stalls.

[music] Alejandro liked that because it made him feel relaxed.  With her, I didn’t have to prove anything. They were together for almost a year. Alejandro even began to think that Daniela could be the person with whom he wanted to form something serious.  But things began to change little by little. Alejandro’s work grew more than he expected.

His company began signing major contracts and his free time almost completely disappeared. Daniela tried to understand, but she saw him less and less.  Sometimes weeks would go by without them being able to have a quiet dinner.  Alejandro was always busy, he always had last-minute calls or meetings.  Daniela began to feel displaced by work.  One night everything exploded.

Alejandro remembered that moment very clearly.  He had arrived late to his apartment after a meeting with investors.  Daniela was waiting for him in the living room.  He had a serious face and his arms were crossed.  “We need to talk,” she said as soon as he closed the door.  [music] Alejandro left his jacket on the sofa and sighed wearily.

I’d had a long day and wasn’t in the mood to argue.  Now he asked, I’m exhausted.  That’s precisely why , Daniela replied, [music] because you’re always busy.  There’s never a good time to talk to you.  The conversation started calmly, but gradually became more heated.  [music] Daniela said that she felt lonely, that Alejandro no longer had time for the relationship.

Alejandro defended himself by saying that all the effort he was making was also for the future they could have together, but neither of them was willing to give in.  The argument ended in the worst way. Daniela picked up her bag and walked towards the door.  Alejandro thought he would leave alone for that night, as had happened before .

But before leaving, Daniela looked at him with a mixture of sadness and tiredness.  “This isn’t working anymore,” he said firmly. Then he opened the door and left the apartment.  Alejandro never forgot the sound of that door closing.  During the following days, he waited for Daniela to call him, but the call never came. He didn’t want to look for her either.

His pride was stronger at that moment.  He thought that time would sort things out or that they would simply each go their separate ways. And that’s how Camila appeared in his life.  Camila was very different from Daniela.  She liked elegant events, parties, and designer clothes.  Alejandro met her at a business gala.

From the beginning, she showed interest in her world and the opportunities it offered.  With Camila, everything was simpler in a certain sense.  She understood the rhythm of his life and seemed comfortable with it.  She never complained when Alejandro had to work late.  But now, sitting in that restaurant, Alejandro realized that he had never completely stopped thinking about Daniela.

The waiter arrived with the drinks and placed them on the table.  Camila took her glass of wine and smiled.  “For us,” he said, raising his glass.  Alejandro raised his as well.   ” For us,” he replied.  The glasses clinked gently.  At that moment, Daniela came out of the kitchen again. She was carrying another tray with plates.

She walked with the same care as before. Alejandro couldn’t help but look at her again .  Camila followed the direction of his gaze.  “Do you know her?” he suddenly asked.  Alejandro stood still for a second.  “Why do you say that?” he replied, trying to appear calm.  “Because ever since we arrived you haven’t stopped looking at her,” Camila said with a curious smile.

Alejandro thought quickly before answering.  “I think I’ve seen her somewhere before,” he finally said.  ” Perhaps at another restaurant Camila didn’t seem entirely convinced, but she didn’t insist either. Meanwhile, Daniela continued working. She didn’t look back at their table, [music] but Alejandro could tell her expression was more tense than before.

Then, the waiter returned with the dishes. The aroma of the food filled the table. The ribelle in front of Alejandro and the salmon in front of Camila looked perfect. Camila began to eat enthusiastically. “This is amazing,” she said after the first bite. [music] Alejandro also cut a piece of meat, but he could barely taste it.

[music] His mind was still stuck on the same question. Six months. The timing was too convenient. He tried to remember if Daniela had mentioned anything strange during the last few weeks of their relationship. Any sign, any comment, anything that might give him a clue. But he couldn’t remember anything. Daniela had disappeared from his life without another word .

Camila spoke again as she ate. “Hey, [music] is there something going on with that waitress?”  She asked again curiously. Alejandro put his fork down on his plate. “It’s okay, ” he replied. [music] But at that moment, Daniela was slowly approaching their table with a small notebook in her hand. Alejandro felt his heart race again because this time Daniela wasn’t just passing by .

This time she was coming straight for them. Daniela walked toward Alejandro’s table with firm steps, [music] although inside she felt a knot in her stomach. She had tried to avoid this moment since she saw him enter the restaurant, but the place was full and all the waiters had to attend to several tables. Sooner or later, she would have to approach him.

Now she couldn’t keep avoiding him. She carried a small notebook in her hand and tried to maintain the same calm expression she used with all the customers, but for her, this wasn’t just any table. Alejandro saw her approach and for a moment forgot how to breathe normally. He felt a strange mix of surprise, discomfort, and many questions he did n’t know how to ask.

Camila, sitting across from him, looked up and also noticed that  The waitress was walking straight toward them. She hadn’t imagined that this woman was part of her boyfriend’s past, but she immediately sensed that something in the atmosphere had changed. Daniela arrived at the table and stopped to one side with a professional smile.

“Good evening,” she said in a calm voice. “Is everything alright with your dishes?” Alejandro looked directly at her for the first time since entering the restaurant. For a second, neither of them spoke. Their eyes met again, and it was as if they both remembered at the same time everything they had experienced months before: the simple dinners, the walks through the city, the arguments that ended their relationship.

Camila broke the silence, unaware of the history between them. “Yes, everything is delicious,” she said, smiling as she pointed to her plate.  “The salmon is perfect.”  Daniela nodded politely.  “I’m glad to hear that.” Then he glanced briefly at Alexander.  He continued watching her, trying to remain calm.

“Do you want anything else for now?” [music] Daniela asked.  Alejandro took a second to respond.  “No, everything is fine,” he finally said.  Daniela wrote something down in her notebook just out of habit.  She knew she didn’t really need to write anything, but the gesture helped her maintain her composure. [music] She could feel Alejandro’s gaze upon her.

She also knew that sooner or later he was going to ask about the pregnancy.  Camila started speaking naturally again.  “Hey, how many months pregnant are you?” he asked, looking at Daniela’s belly with genuine curiosity.  The question took Alejandro by surprise. Daniela also remained still for a moment, but then immediately responded with a calm smile.  “Seven months,” she said.

Alejandro felt a pang in his chest. Seven months. The number echoed in his head. Camila opened her eyes in surprise. “Really? Well, it’s hardly noticeable.”  “It must be hard working like this.” Daniela glanced down at her belly for a moment, then looked up again. “Sometimes it is, but you get used to it,” she replied simply. Alejandro remained silent.

His mind was doing calculations again. Seven months. That meant the pregnancy had started while they were still together. Camila took a sip of wine and continued talking, unaware of the impact of her words. “And is it a boy or a girl?” she asked. Daniela breathed calmly before answering. “A boy.

” Alejandro felt his heart beat even faster. Camila smiled. “How lovely. You already have a name.” Daniela hesitated for just a second. “Yes,” Mateo finally answered. [music] The name hung in the air for a few seconds. Alejandro looked down at his plate. He had barely touched his food. He felt that every word Daniela said would bring more questions to his mind.

Camila smiled again. “Well, I wish you the best of luck.”  “It must be a very special time.” Daniela nodded kindly. “Thank you.” At that moment, another table raised its hand to request service. Daniela glanced in that direction and then returned to Alejandro’s table . “If you need anything else, let me know,” she said before leaving.

She turned and began to walk away between the tables with calm steps. Alejandro watched her until she disappeared near the restaurant bar. Camila noticed that he was still distracted. “Now, tell me what’s going on,” she said, resting her elbows on the table and looking at him curiously. Alejandro looked up.

“What do you mean?” he asked, trying to sound relaxed. Camila let out a small laugh. ” Alejandro, I’m not stupid. You’ve been acting strange ever since you saw that waitress.” Alejandro picked up his wine glass and took a sip before answering. “Nothing’s wrong.” Camila watched him closely. “Do you know her?” The question hung in the air for a few seconds.

[music] Alejandro knew that lying too much could raise more suspicions, but he also didn’t want to explain the whole story in the middle of the restaurant. “Yes,” he said  Finally. [Music] Camila raised an eyebrow. From where? Alejandro placed his glass on the table. We dated a while ago. Camila was silent for a few seconds, processing the information.

Your ex-girlfriend? she asked. Alejandro nodded slowly. Camila glanced around the dining room, searching for Daniela among the tables. “Interesting,” she said after a moment. Alejandro frowned. What’s so interesting about that? Camila looked directly at him. “That your ex-girlfriend just happens to show up pregnant at the same restaurant where we had dinner.

” Alejandro didn’t respond immediately. Camila tilted her head slightly. How long were you together? Almost a year, Alejandro replied. And when did you break up? Six months ago. Camila didn’t say anything for a few seconds, [Music] just stared at him. Then she looked back toward the dining room where Daniela was waiting on another table.

“What a coincidence,” [Music] she commented with a smile that seemed calm, but there was something curious in her gaze. Alejandro shifted in his chair. It’s not what you’re thinking. Camila raised her hands slightly. I’m not thinking  “Nothing, I’m just saying it’s a coincidence.” [Music] Alejandro took a deep breath. He didn’t know if Camila was actually suspecting something or if she was just playing with the situation.

Meanwhile, Daniela continued working on the other side of the restaurant, but several times she involuntarily glanced up at Alejandro’s table. Each time she did, she felt a mix of emotions that were difficult to sort out. Part of her wanted to ignore him completely. Another part remembered all too well what they had been together.

Camila finished another bite of her salmon. “Well, [Music] at least the food is good,” she said with a smile. Alejandro tried to refocus on his dinner. He cut another piece of meat, even though he still wasn’t hungry. Camila watched him closely. [Music] “You know?” she said after a moment. “I think that story isn’t completely over.

” Alejandro looked up. “What do you mean?” Camila took a small sip of her wine before answering. “I mean that when two people meet like this, [Music] after so long, it’s usually not a coincidence,” Alejandro said again.  He glanced toward the dining room. Daniela was near the bar arranging glasses. For a moment, she too looked up, and their eyes met again.

Dinner ended without Alejandro being able to enjoy it. For the rest of the time, he tried to act normal around Camila, but his mind kept replaying the same question. Every time he looked up, he searched for Daniela among the tables. Daniela, for her part, avoided getting too close to Alejandro’s table after that first encounter.

She focused on other tables, other customers, anything that would keep her occupied, but it was impossible to ignore that he was there. Camila finished her glass of wine and placed her napkin on the table. “I think I’ll order dessert,” she said with a slight smile. Alejandro barely reacted. “Yes, [music] sure,” he replied without enthusiasm.

Camila ordered a chocolate cake while he only ordered coffee. Daniela wasn’t the one who took that order. Another waiter handled it, something Alejandro noticed immediately. When the bill finally arrived, Alejandro paid it without giving it much thought. Camila  She got up first and grabbed her purse. Outside, the night air was crisp, and the avenue was still bustling with cars and lights.

The restaurant was located in an upscale part of town, with tall buildings and brightly lit streets. Camila smoothed her hair as they walked toward the parking lot. “Dinner was good,” she said. “Although I think your mind was elsewhere most of the time.” Alejandro shoved his hands in his jacket pockets.

“Sorry, I had a long day.” [music] Camila glanced at him sideways as they walked. “Yeah, right, a long day that just happened to coincide with you seeing your ex-girlfriend.” Alejandro sighed. “I already told you it ‘s nothing.” Camila paused for a moment before reaching the car. She looked directly at him.

[music] Alejandro, I ‘m not upset, I just find it curious. Alejandro unlocked the car with the remote, and they both got in. He started the engine and calmly pulled out of the parking lot. For a few minutes, neither of them spoke. The sounds of the city filled the silence inside the car. Finally, Camila spoke again.

“Do you want me to tell you something?” she said, looking out the window. “What ?” Alejandro replied without taking his eyes off the road. “That if that woman had something significant with you, it’s normal to keep thinking about it when you see her again .” Alejandro didn’t respond immediately. Part of him knew Camila was right.

After a few minutes, they arrived at the building where Camila lived. It was a modern place with a small, brightly lit lobby. [music] “Well,” Camila said as she unbuckled her seatbelt. “Thanks for dinner.” Alejandro nodded. “See you tomorrow.” Camila opened the door, but before getting out, she looked at him again.

“Don’t dwell on the past, Alejandro. Sometimes you remember things that no longer make sense.” Then she closed the door and walked toward the building’s entrance. Alejandro stayed seated in the car for a few more seconds. [music] He watched the building until Camila disappeared inside. Then he took a deep breath.

Without thinking too much, he started the car again and drove back to the restaurant. The place was still open, although there were fewer people. Some customers were leaving while others finished their meals. Alejandro  He parked the car across the street and stared at the entrance for a few seconds. He didn’t know exactly what he was going to say to Daniela, but he knew he couldn’t go home with all those questions.

Several minutes passed. [music] Finally, the restaurant door opened and some employees began to come out. Daniela appeared among them. She was wearing a simple jacket over her uniform and walked more slowly than the others. It had probably been a long shift. Alejandro got out of the car and crossed the street.

Daniela saw him approaching when he was almost in front of her. She stopped immediately. For a few seconds, neither of them said anything. They just looked at each other under the yellow light of a streetlamp. “Hi,” Alejandro finally said . “Hi,” Daniela replied calmly. Silence fell between them again. Alejandro didn’t know where to begin.

It had been months since they had last seen each other, and now the first image before him was his ex-girlfriend, pregnant. “I didn’t know you worked here,” he said finally. Daniela adjusted the strap of her purse over her shoulder. I began  A few months ago. Alejandro nodded slowly. They fell silent again. Finally, Alejandro glanced down at Daniela’s belly [music] and then looked up again .

“How far along are you?” he asked. Daniela calmly crossed her arms. “Seven months.” Alejandro looked down for a moment, as if he were doing calculations again. Daniela watched him closely. She knew exactly what he was thinking. “You don’t have to do calculations,” she said suddenly. Alejandro looked up. “What do you mean?” Daniela took a deep breath before answering.

“That I didn’t come looking for you, Alejandro.” The answer took him by surprise. “I didn’t say that, but you thought it,” [music] she replied calmly. The sound of a car passing on the avenue broke the silence for a moment. Alejandro ran a hand through his hair. “I just want to understand what’s going on.” Daniela looked at him intently. “Really.

Yes.” Daniela was silent for a few seconds before speaking. “When we finished, we each went our separate ways. You didn’t look for me. I didn’t look for you either.” Alejandro felt a small weight in  “My chest hurt when I heard those words. But now you show up with this,” she said, gesturing slightly to her stomach.

Daniela looked down at her stomach for a second and then looked back at it. “I’m pregnant like this.”  Alejandro took a deep breath.  The question had been stuck in his throat ever since he saw her at the restaurant.  Finally he told her, “The baby is mine.”  The street fell silent around them.

Daniela did not respond immediately.  Her eyes shifted to the side, as if she were carefully considering what to say. Alejandro felt his heart pounding in his chest.  After a few seconds, Daniela looked at him again.  “I don’t want any trouble, Alejandro,” he finally said.  That doesn’t answer the question. Daniela sighed.  I didn’t come to ask you for anything.

I’m working.  I’m continuing with my life and I’m going to have my son.  Alejandro took one step closer.  But I need to know. Daniela looked at him with a mixture of tiredness and determination.  Now [music] didn’t say.  Alejandro frowned. Not now.  That?  I don’t want to talk about that now. Silence fell between them once more.

Daniela adjusted her jacket and looked towards the street corner where a taxi was passing by.  “I have to go,” he said.  Alejandro remained still.  Daniela raised her hand to stop the taxi that was approaching.  [music] Before going up, she looked at Alejandro again.  “Take care,” he said in a calm voice.

Then he opened the taxi door and got in.  The car started and drove away down the lit avenue. Alejandro stood on the sidewalk watching as the taxi disappeared into the traffic.  I had more questions than before and no answers.  That night Alejandro arrived at his apartment much later than usual.  She lived in a spacious penthouse in one of the most exclusive areas of the city.

From the windows you could see much of the capital’s lights, a view that many would find impressive.  But that night Alejandro didn’t even go near the window.  As soon as he entered, he left the keys on the table and walked straight to the sofa.  She sat down and ran both hands over her face, trying to organize her thoughts.

The conversation with Daniela in the street kept repeating in his head.  His way of speaking, the calmness with which he avoided answering the most important question, and above all, the phrase he had said before leaving.  I didn’t come looking for you .  Alejandro got up and walked towards the kitchen.  He opened the refrigerator, took out a bottle of water, and drank several gulps in a row.

Then he placed both hands on the counter and stared at the floor.  7 months.  The number kept appearing over and over again in his mind.  If Daniela was telling the truth about the timing of her pregnancy, it all coincided too well with the end of her relationship.  That meant there was a very real possibility that the baby was his.

Alejandro returned to the sofa and picked up his phone.  He thought about calling Daniela, but stopped himself.  I didn’t have her number saved.  When they finished, he deleted it as a way of closing that chapter.  He put the phone on the table and lay back on the sofa staring at the ceiling.  The image of Daniela working at the restaurant also came back to his mind.

I remembered how she moved carefully between the tables.  I remembered his face when their eyes met.  She didn’t seem like a woman who was trying to take advantage of someone, but she hadn’t answered his question either.  Alejandro sighed heavily.  After a while he got up and walked towards his room.   He took off his jacket and tie and collapsed onto the bed without even turning on the television.

But sleeping was impossible.  Every time he closed his eyes, the same scene appeared. [music] Daniela in the restaurant uniform, her rounded belly and the silence she left after the question he asked in the street.  Hours later, the sound of a notification woke him up.  He had only managed to sleep for a couple of hours. He picked up the phone from the nightstand.

It was a message from Camila.  Good morning. I hope you’re less pensive today. Alejandro looked at the message for a few seconds before replying.  Good morning .  He got out of bed and walked towards the bathroom.  As she prepared to leave for work, her mind remained stuck on the same topic.

When he arrived at the office, the movement had already begun.  His company occupied several floors of a modern building.  There were employees walking through the hallways, scheduled meetings, and phones ringing.  Alejandro entered his office with a firm step, trying to concentrate on what he had to do that day, [music] but he had only been checking emails for a few minutes when someone knocked on the door.  “Come in,” he said.

The door opened and Jorge entered. Jorge Méndez was his business partner and also his friend of more than 10 years. He was 38 years old and had a straightforward personality. He was one of the few people who could speak to Alejandro with complete honesty. “Good morning,” Jorge said as he entered. “Good morning,” Alejandro replied.

Jorge sat down at the desk and observed him carefully. “You look tired?” Alejandro let out a small, humorless laugh . “I didn’t sleep much.” “A lot of work or a lot of problems?” Jorge asked. Alejandro hesitated for a few seconds before answering. “Something strange happened last night.” Jorge crossed his arms.

“That sounds interesting.” Alejandro took a deep breath. “I ran into Daniela.” Jorge frowned immediately. “Your ex-girlfriend.” “Yes.” ” Where?” “At a restaurant.” Jorge looked at him curiously. “And why does that have you so upset?” Alejandro rested his elbows on the desk because “she’s pregnant.” Jorge stood still for a second, and Alejandro looked up and said, “She’s seven months along.

” It took Jorge a moment to understand what that meant. Then his eyes widened in surprise.  Wait, are you saying the baby could be yours? Alejandro didn’t answer right away. That’s what I’m thinking. Jorge leaned back in his chair. Wow. For a few seconds, neither of them spoke. [music] Finally, Jorge asked again. What did she say? Nothing.

Right, nothing. I asked her directly if the baby was mine, but she didn’t answer. Jorge was thoughtful. That’s weird. [music] Alejandro nodded slowly. Exactly. Jorge stared at him. If he wanted money or some kind of help, he would have said yes without thinking twice. Alejandro thought the same thing, but he didn’t .

At that moment, Alejandro’s phone vibrated on the desk. It was a message from Camila. We could have dinner at my apartment tonight. I have something I want to talk to you about. Alejandro looked at the message for a few seconds. Jorge noticed his expression. Camila. [music] Yes. Jorge leaned forward a little .

I’ve never had a good feeling about that woman. Alejandro looked up. Why do you say that? I don’t know, Jorge replied. Something about the way she acts seems too much to me.  Calculated. Alejandro frowned. Maybe it’s just your imagination. Maybe, Jorge replied, shrugging. [music] Alejandro looked back at Camila’s message .

Meanwhile, elsewhere in the city, Camila was also thinking about the previous night. She was sitting in a fancy coffee shop with her phone on the table. Across from her was a man in his 30s, Ricardo. [music] Ricardo Delgado was tall, well-dressed, and had a confident expression, but there was something cold in his eyes.

Camila took a sip of her coffee. [music] “Something unexpected happened last night, ” Ricardo said, raising an eyebrow.  “Problems with the millionaire?”  Camila put the cup down on the table.  We ran into his ex-girlfriend. Ricardo smiled curiously.  That sounds fun.  Camila shook her head. She is pregnant.

Ricardo stopped smiling for a moment and Camila looked directly at him.  Based on the calculations, the baby could be his.  Ricardo leaned back in his chair and let out a small laugh. [music] Well, that does complicate things a bit .  Camila interlaced her fingers on the table.  No, if we do things quickly.  Ricardo watched her with interest.

What are you talking about?  Camila leaned slightly towards him.  We need to accelerate our plan.  Ricardo smiled slowly.  Now things are getting interesting.  The cafe where Camila and Ricardo were sitting was located on a quiet street, far from the noise of the main avenues.  It was one of those elegant places where people went to work on their computers or to have discreet meetings.

The music was soft and the aroma of freshly brewed coffee filled the air.  Camila was sitting with her back straight, slowly moving the spoon inside her cup.  Ricardo watched her intently from the front.  There was a trust between them that didn’t seem recent.  It wasn’t the first time they had seen each other in secret.

Ricardo rested his elbows on the table and smiled calmly.   ” So, tell me something.” [music] He said, “Does that guy suspect anything?” Camila shook her head. “No, Alejandro thinks everything is fine.” Ricardo chuckled. That means he’s still completely in love. Camila didn’t answer right away, just looked out the window for a moment, watching the people walking down the street.

Ricardo spoke again. Although that pregnant ex-girlfriend might complicate things, Camila looked at him again. Only if we let her complicate things. Ricardo tilted his head slightly. Explain. Camila put her spoon down on the plate and clasped her hands on the table. Alejandro trusts me a lot. Too much. Ricardo raised an eyebrow.

That always helps. Camila continued. In a few weeks, he wants me to accompany him on a business trip to Monterrey. During that trip, we’re going to review some investment documents. Ricardo listened intently, and Camila leaned slightly toward him. Among those documents is one that authorizes certain money transfers between his companies’ accounts.

Ricardo began to smile slowly. Now I understand. Camila smiled too, but  His expression was colder. “We just need you to sign without reading too much.” Ricardo leaned back in his chair, and then Camila took another sip of coffee before answering. “Then the money is moved to another account, one that isn’t in his name.

” Ricardo nodded with satisfaction. “In our name.” Camila looked at him intently. “Exactly.” For a few seconds, they were both silent, as if imagining what would happen when everything went according to plan. Ricardo was the first to speak again. “How much money are we talking about?” Camila lowered her voice. ” Several million.

” Ricardo let out a low whistle. “That’s worth the risk.” Camila looked at her phone on the table. The screen lit up with a message from Alejandro. “I’ll come by your apartment tonight.” Camila placed the phone face down. Ricardo noticed. “The millionaire.” Camila nodded. “He wants to see me tonight.” [music] Ricardo smiled ironically.

“He must still be thinking about his ex-girlfriend.” Camila shrugged slightly. “Probably.” Ricardo leaned forward. “Are you worried?” Camila  She looked calmly. No. Ricardo watched her for a few more seconds. [music] Sure. Camila rested her arms on the table. Alejandro is predictable. When something confuses him, what he seeks most is to feel secure.

Ricardo narrowed his eyes. And you give him that security. Camila nodded. Exactly. [music] Ricardo smiled again. I’ve always said you’re very good at this. Camila picked up her purse. It’s not so complicated when you understand how people think. Ricardo watched her stand up. See you tonight. Camila shook her head. No. Ricardo raised an eyebrow.

No. Camila adjusted her purse over her shoulder. I have to continue being the perfect girlfriend. Ricardo chuckled. Sure. [music] Camila started walking toward the exit of the cafeteria, but before leaving she stopped for a moment and looked at him again. Remember something, [music] she said.

What? Don’t do anything that draws attention. Ricardo raised his hands with a confident smile. Relax, [music] I know how to handle it  These things. Camila left the place and walked along the sidewalk with a calm gait. Meanwhile, on the other side of the city, Daniela strolled slowly through a small park near her apartment.

Her morning shift at the restaurant had ended early . Daniela had decided to take a walk before heading home. The park was almost empty. Only a few people were walking their dogs or jogging along the paths. Daniela sat on a bench under a tree, placed a hand on her stomach, and took a deep breath. She had spent the entire morning trying to focus on work, but her mind kept returning to the previous night.

Seeing Alejandro after so many months had been an unexpected shock, and hearing his question on the street had been even harder. “The baby is mine.” Daniela closed her eyes for a moment. She knew that question was going to come up sooner or later. Alejandro wasn’t the kind of man who would ignore something like that, but she also wasn’t sure what to do now.

She looked up at the sky for a few seconds. She remembered what her relationship with Alejandro had been like at the beginning. She remembered the laughter, the simple moments, the promises that some  They seemed real at first, but she also remembered the argument that changed everything. Daniela opened her eyes and looked at her belly again.

The baby moved slightly. She smiled tenderly. “Hello, little one,” [music] she murmured softly. A man walking through the park passed by the bench without paying her any attention. Daniela took another deep breath. She knew that sooner or later she would have to face that conversation with Alejandro, but she wasn’t ready yet.

Meanwhile, Alejandro was still in his office reviewing some documents with Jorge. Although he was trying to concentrate on his work, [music] his mind kept returning to the same scene in front of the restaurant. Jorge closed a folder and looked at him. You’re still thinking about the same thing, aren’t you? Alejandro sighed. Yes.

Jorge crossed his arms. Sooner or later you’ll have to talk to her again. Alejandro nodded slowly. I know. At that moment, Alejandro’s phone vibrated again. It was a message from Camila. I’ll be waiting for you tonight. Alejandro looked at the screen for a few seconds. Jorge observed his expression. The girlfriend. Yes.

Jorge got up from the  chair. I’ll just tell you something. She said. [music] Alejandro looked up. What? Jorge shrugged. Sometimes people aren’t what they seem. Alejandro frowned slightly. He did n’t know that at that very moment Camila was walking through the city thinking the exact same thing, but with a very different intention.

Daniela’s apartment was in an old, three-story building in a quiet neighborhood . It wasn’t a big or modern place, but it was clean and had the essentials. The walls were painted white, and the living room had a small sofa, a wooden table, and a television that was several years old. Daniela entered the apartment after her walk in the park, closed the door carefully, and placed her bag on the table.

The silence of the place enveloped her immediately. It was a silence she had grown accustomed to. She walked slowly to the kitchen and opened the refrigerator. She took out a bottle of cold water and drank several long gulps. Then she placed a hand on her belly. The baby moved slightly again. Daniela smiled with a mixture of tenderness  and tiredness.

“Relax, Mateo,” she said softly. She had chosen that name weeks ago. She had repeated it aloud many times to get used to it. She liked the way Mateo sounded. She sat down in one of the chairs at the small kitchen table. [music] The tiredness from her shift at the restaurant felt stronger now that she was home.

Working while pregnant wasn’t easy. There were days when her back ached terribly and the hours seemed endless, but she needed the job. Since leaving the coffee shop where she met Alejandro, her financial situation had changed drastically. When her relationship with Alejandro ended, Daniela decided to move out and start over.

She didn’t want to depend on anyone, not even him. The problem was that a few weeks after the breakup, she discovered she was pregnant. Daniela remembered the moment perfectly. She was in the bathroom of her old apartment with a pregnancy test in her hand. When she saw the positive result, she sat on the edge of the bathtub for several minutes without moving.

At that moment, she thought about calling Alejandro, thought about telling him everything, but in the end, she didn’t.  She did. Their last argument had been too heated. Daniela was tired of feeling second best to Alejandro. [music] Besides, she didn’t want him to think she was trying to trap him with a baby, [music] so she made a difficult decision.

Moving forward alone wasn’t easy. She had to find a new, smaller apartment, get another job, and learn to manage her life with the pregnancy progressing each week. The restaurant where she worked now wasn’t easy. The shifts were long, and sometimes the customers could be demanding, but the pay was better than at the coffee shop.

Daniela got up from her chair and walked into the living room. She grabbed the TV remote and turned it on. Although she wasn’t really paying attention to the program, her mind drifted back to the previous night. Alejandro’s face when he saw her at the restaurant, [music] the surprise in his eyes, and then that direct question on the street. “The baby is mine.

” Daniela closed her eyes for a moment. She knew Alejandro had the right to ask that question. After all, the pregnancy  It was in line with their relationship. But she also knew that responding wasn’t so simple. The phone on the table vibrated. Daniela picked it up. It was a message from her friend Laura.

“How are you?” [music] “How was your shift?” Daniela typed a quick reply. “Tired, but good.” Laura responded almost immediately. ” And the baby.” Daniela glanced at her belly again before typing, noticing how much it was moving. A few seconds later, another message appeared. “That’s a good sign.” [music] Daniela smiled slightly.

Laura had been one of the few people who had supported her from the beginning. They had known each other for years, since before Daniela started dating Alejandro. The phone vibrated again. “Did you tell Alejandro anything?” Laura asked in the new message. Daniela stared at the screen for a few seconds before replying. “No.

” Laura took a little longer to answer this time. [music] “Are you sure that’s the best thing to do?” Daniela sighed. “I don’t know.” Meanwhile, on the other side of town, Alejandro was finishing his shift  Work. The office was quieter. Many employees had already left. Alejandro closed the last folder on his desk and leaned back in his chair.

Jorge entered the office with a cup of coffee in his hand. “Are you still here?” he asked. Alejandro nodded, finishing up a few things. Jorge watched him for a few seconds. “Are you going to see Camila today?” [music] “Yes.” Jorge took a sip of coffee. “Be careful,” he said suddenly.  Alejandro looked up.

“Not that again ,” Jorge shrugged.  I’m just saying, don’t trust anyone too quickly.  Alejandro put some documents in his briefcase. Camila has nothing to do with what happened to Daniela.  Jorge did not respond immediately.  “Maybe not,” he finally said.  Alejandro got up from his chair.  “See you tomorrow.”  Jorge nodded.

Alejandro left the office and walked towards the elevator.  As I walked down to the parking lot, I thought about what I was going to say to Camila that night. Perhaps I would tell you more about Daniela. Maybe not.  He started the car and left the building.  As I drove through the city, the night lights began to come on in the streets.

At the same time, in her small apartment, Daniela turned off the television.  The night was also beginning for her.  He got up from the sofa and walked towards the room. Before going to bed, he looked at his phone again.  There were no new messages. Daniela left the phone on the nightstand and lay down on the bed.

She placed a hand on her stomach.  The baby started moving again.  Daniela took a deep breath.  Although she tried to move on with her life, she knew that the encounter with Alejandro had changed something, because now he knew that the baby existed and sooner or later he would return to look for answers.  Night had completely fallen over the city when Alejandro parked his car in front of the building where Camila lived.

[music] It was a modern tower with soft lights at the entrance and a doorman who greeted residents as they entered. Alejandro had been there several times during the last few months, so the doorman recognized him immediately and opened the door for him with a smile. “Good evening, Mr. Alejandro.”  “Good evening,” he replied as he walked towards the elevator.

He went up to the floor where Camila’s apartment was located. As the elevator ascended, Alejandro thought about the conversation he had had with Jorge that afternoon.  “Be careful.”  [music] The phrase kept echoing in his head.   It wasn’t the first time Jorge had shown distrust towards Camila.  Since he met her, he had made similar comments, although never very direct.

Alejandro thought his friend was simply too distrustful of new people.  The elevator stopped and the doors opened. Alejandro walked down the hallway and knocked on the apartment door.  A few seconds later, the door opened. Camila appeared with a wide smile. She wore a simple but elegant dress and her hair was loose over her shoulders.

“Hello,” [music] she said in a soft voice.  “Hello,” Alejandro replied.  Camila stepped aside to let him in.  The apartment had a modern decor.  Everything was clean and tidy. On the dining room table there were two wine glasses and an open bottle. “I wanted the night to be quiet,” Camila said as she closed the door. Alejandro left his briefcase on a chair.  That sounds good.

Camila took the glasses and gave him one for a carefree night .  Alejandro raised his glass and gently clinked it against hers. Camila watched him attentively. “Are you still thinking about last night?” Alejandro asked, taking a small sip before answering.  A bit. Camila walked to the sofa and sat down calmly.  It’s normal.

Alejandro sat down opposite her.  I didn’t expect to see her again.  Camila rested an arm on the back of the sofa.  And it affects you a lot, Alejandro thought for a moment.  Don’t know. [music] Camila tilted her head slightly.  Do you still have feelings for her? The question was direct.  Alejandro shook his head.  It’s not that.

Camila stared at him .  So, what is it?  Alejandro sighed.  [music] It’s complicated.  Camila waited in silence.  Alejandro ran a hand through his hair.  When we finished, things went badly.  We never spoke after that argument.  Camila took another sip of wine.  Sometimes that happens. Alejandro continued.  And now she appears pregnant.

Camila put the glass down on the table.  “Do you think the baby is yours?” Alejandro did not respond immediately.  “It’s possible.” Camila maintained a calm expression. “And she, ‘What does she say?’” “Nothing clear.” Camila clasped her hands together. “That ‘s strange too.” Alejandro looked at her. ” Why? Because if the baby were yours, the logical thing would be to say so.

” Alejandro had thought exactly the same thing. Camila continued. [music] “Maybe it’s just a coincidence.” Alejandro didn’t seem convinced. “The dates match up too well.” Camila watched him for a few seconds. “Do you want to talk to her again?” Alejandro leaned back on the sofa. “Probably.” Camila got up and walked to the kitchen.

From there she spoke again. “Just make sure you don’t complicate your life more than necessary.” Alejandro looked at her as she poured some more wine. “What do you mean?” Camila returned with the bottle in her hand. “I mean that some people appear in your life just when everything starts to go well.

” Alejandro frowned slightly. Camila sat back down . “Sometimes it’s not a coincidence.” Alejandro didn’t reply. The conversation was silent for a few seconds. Meanwhile, elsewhere in the city, Jorge was sitting in a small bar near his  Home. It was a quiet place he often went after work. He had a beer in front of him and was looking at his phone with a thoughtful expression.

He remembered the conversation with Alejandro at the office. There was something about the whole situation that he didn’t like. Jorge had known Alejandro for many years. He knew his friend was very smart about business, but he also knew he could be naive when it came to personal relationships. He took another sip of beer, thinking about Camila.

From the first day he met her, he’d had a strange feeling. She was too perfect, too kind, too interested in the details of Alejandro’s financial life . Jorge had seen that kind of behavior before, and it rarely ended well. He took out his phone and typed a message. Alejandro, just remember this. Don’t make important decisions without calmly reviewing everything.

He looked at the message for a few seconds before sending it. Then he put his phone down on the bar. Meanwhile, at Camila’s apartment, the conversation continued. Camila had put on soft music in the background. Alejandro looked at his phone when the notification of Jorge’s message arrived. Camila noticed.

Something important. Alejandro shook his head.  Just Jorge. Camila smiled slightly. Your partner seems to care a lot about you. Alejandro put his phone down on the table. That’s just how he is. Camila crossed her legs and looked at him intently. You know what? she said. What? Sometimes the people who warn you the most are the ones who understand the least what’s going on.

Alejandro looked up. You’re saying that because of Jorge, aren’t you? Camila nodded calmly. He probably thinks I’m not good for you. Alejandro frowned. He never said that. Camila smiled gently. But he does think it. Alejandro didn’t reply. Camila leaned a little closer to him. Alejandro, I’m with you because I want to be with you.

Not for any other reason. [music] Her words sounded sincere. Alejandro looked at her for a few seconds. Camila took his hand. Don’t let other people’s doubts ruin what we have. [music] Alejandro nodded slowly, but at that very moment, in another part of the city, someone else was thinking about him. Daniela was sitting at the small table in her kitchen looking at a notebook where she kept track of her expenses.

The bills for the month were getting bigger and bigger.  Tight budgets. The restaurant’s earnings barely covered rent, food, and pregnancy-related medical appointments. Daniela closed her notebook with a sigh. She placed a hand on her belly. The baby moved again. Daniela smiled wearily. ” Relax,” Mateo said. But deep down, she knew her life was about to change again, because sooner or later Alejandro would reappear with the same question, and this time [music] she might have to give him an answer.

The following days passed quickly, but for Alejandro, each day seemed filled with thoughts that wouldn’t leave him alone. Work at the company continued at its normal pace: meetings, calls, [music] important decisions. From the outside, everything seemed the same as always. But inside, Alejandro felt his mind was torn between two issues he couldn’t get out of his head.

On one hand, there was Daniela and the pregnancy. On the other, Camila. That morning, Alejandro was in his office reviewing some documents when Camila appeared unannounced. The door opened softly, and she entered with a smile.  “Hi,” she said cheerfully. Alejandro looked up in surprise. “Camila, what are you doing here?” She walked confidently to the desk.

“I wanted to see you.” Alejandro stood up . “You could have let me know.” Camila shrugged casually. ” I thought it would be a nice surprise.” Alejandro smiled slightly. “It is.” Camila looked around the office. It was spacious, with large windows and a stunning view of the city. ” I always like coming here,” she said. Alejandro walked around the desk.

“Would you like some coffee?” [music] Camila shook her head. “No, I just wanted to talk to you for a few minutes.” Alejandro crossed his arms. “About what?” Camila looked at him with a serious expression for the first time. “About us.” Alejandro raised his eyebrows slightly. ” What [music] is going on?” Camila walked to one of the windows and looked at the city for a few seconds before answering.

“I feel like you ‘ve been distant lately.” Alejandro moved closer. “A lot has happened these days.” Camila turned to look at him. “You mean your ex-girlfriend?” Alejandro didn’t  He responded immediately. Camila continued. I understand, Alejandro. I know it was a surprise. [music] Alejandro sighed. Yes. Camila watched him closely, but I don’t want that to affect what we have.

Alejandro nodded slowly. It won’t. Camila moved a little closer. Because I’m thinking about the future. Alejandro frowned slightly . What do you mean? Camila took his hand. I mean that I think it’s time to take a more serious step. Alejandro looked at her curiously. Camila spoke calmly. We could start organizing our life together.

Alejandro remained silent. Camila continued. We could live together. The words hung in the air in the office. Alejandro didn’t respond immediately. It was a conversation he hadn’t expected to have so soon. Camila noticed his silence. You don’t have to answer now, she said with a calm smile. But I want you to think about it. Alejandro nodded. Sure.

Camila started pacing the office again. Also, there’s something else I wanted to talk to you about. Alejandro leaned against the desk. Yes. Camila [music] looked at him. I’ve been thinking about investing in something. Alejandro raised an eyebrow. Investing, Camila? He nodded. Yes, something small at first. Alejandro smiled slightly.

You know you don’t need to worry about that. Camila shook her head. I don’t want to depend solely on you. Alejandro watched her with interest. What kind of investment? Camila sat down across from the desk. Something related to real estate . Alejandro crossed his arms. That might be a good idea. Camila smiled.

That’s precisely why I wanted to talk to you. Alejandro tilted his head. So I can help you. Camila nodded. You know a lot about business. Alejandro sat back down in his chair. We can review it whenever you want. Camila stood up. Perfect. She walked over and placed her hands on the desk. Actually, there are some documents we could look at soon. Alejandro looked up.

Documents? Camila nodded. Yes, but we can discuss that calmly tonight. Alejandro didn’t suspect anything. He just thought Camila was showing interest in learning about investing. Meanwhile, in another part of the city, Daniela was finishing her afternoon shift at the restaurant. The place was less crowded than in the evenings, but she still spent hours on her feet.

They were starting to weigh on her. Daniela left through the back door of the restaurant and breathed in the fresh air. A coworker followed her out. ” Everything alright?” the woman asked. Daniela nodded. “Yes, just a little tired.” The coworker looked at her belly with a smile. “It won’t be long now.” Daniela smiled back . “Yes.

” The woman said goodbye and walked away . Daniela started walking toward the bus stop. As she walked along the sidewalk, she remembered again the conversation with Alejandro that night in front of the restaurant. She knew that this encounter hadn’t been the end of things; it was just the beginning. Meanwhile, Alejandro was still in his office finishing up some important calls. His phone vibrated.

It was a message from Camila. “I’ll be waiting for you tonight. I want to show you something.” Alejandro replied quickly. “I’ll be there.” Meanwhile, several miles away, Camila was sitting in her apartment looking at her laptop. Several documents were open on the screen. One of them showed financial data for one of Alejandro’s companies .

Camila examined every detail very carefully. Then she picked up her phone.  and dialed a number. Ricardo answered after a few seconds. “All set?” he asked. Camila smiled. ” Almost.” Ricardo was silent for a moment [music] and Alejandro. Camila closed one of the documents on the screen. ” Closer and closer to signing.” Ricardo chuckled.

“I knew you could do it .” Camila held the phone between her shoulder and ear, continuing to review files. ” I’m going to show him the documents tonight,” Ricardo asked curiously. “And what if he wants to review them at his leisure?” Camila smiled calmly. “He won’t.” [music] Ricardo waited for her explanation. Camila replied confidently.

“Because he trusts me.” Ricardo chuckled again. ” So, the plan is still perfect.” Camila looked out the window at the city lights. [music] “Yes.” Then she hung up , got up from the sofa, and walked to the apartment mirror. She studied herself for a few seconds, then smiled. Everything was progressing exactly as she had planned.

The day was overcast when Daniela left the restaurant after her morning shift. The sky had that gray color that made The city seemed quieter than usual. Daniela adjusted her bag over her shoulder and walked carefully along the sidewalk. Tiredness was already evident in her steps, but she also felt a small relief at having finished her shift. It had been a long morning.

Several groups of customers had arrived at the restaurant, and the servers had barely had a break. Daniela had spent hours walking between the tables with her tray in hand, trying to maintain the professional smile that the job demanded. Now all she wanted was to get home, rest a little, and maybe make something simple to eat.

As she walked, one of her hands rested on her belly almost without her noticing. The baby moved from time to time, as if it too was feeling the rhythm of the city. Daniela crossed the street when the light turned green. At that hour, the traffic was constant. Cars, motorcycles, people walking briskly to their jobs or their homes.

Everything seemed like a normal scene from any other day. Daniela continued walking for several blocks. [music] She was thinking about the bills for the month, about her next doctor’s appointment.  and on the night shift she’d have in two days. But then something caught her eye. A few meters away, across the street, she saw a woman who looked familiar. Daniela squinted.

The woman was standing in front of a small café talking to a man. They both seemed very engrossed in their conversation. Daniela paused for a moment. The woman shifted slightly, and the streetlights illuminated her face more clearly. Daniela felt a small pang in her chest. [music] It was Camila.

The same woman who had been sitting across from Alejandro at the restaurant. Daniela hadn’t expected to see her there. She stood still on the sidewalk, watching the scene without quite knowing why. Camila was wearing a light-colored dress and dark glasses. She was smiling as she spoke to the man across from her. [music] The man was tall, well-dressed, and seemed quite comfortable with the proximity between them.

Daniela frowned slightly . She didn’t know why, but something about the scene felt off. Perhaps it was the way they were standing, too close.  Maybe it was the way the man was looking at her. Daniela thought about continuing to walk. After all, it wasn’t her business what Camila did with her life. [music] But right at that moment, something happened that stopped her completely in her tracks.

Camila took a step toward the man and kissed him. It wasn’t a quick greeting or a casual gesture. It was a clear, direct kiss. The man responded immediately, placing a hand on Camila’s waist. Daniela felt a shiver run down her spine. [music] She stared at the scene in disbelief. The first thing she thought of was Alejandro.

She remembered the way he had been looking at her in the restaurant. She remembered the tension in his face, the questions he had asked on the street. Daniela knew Camila was his girlfriend, or at least it seemed that way. The kiss ended after a few seconds. Camila smiled as she said something Daniela couldn’t hear. The man smiled too.

Then the two of them started walking toward a nearby corner. Daniela remained standing in the same spot. Her mind was processing what she had just seen. For a moment, she thought that maybe Alejandro wasn’t with Camila anymore, but then she remembered the night at the restaurant, the way they were together, the way she had talked to him during dinner.

No, Daniela thought. That didn’t seem like a relationship over. As she was thinking all this, Camila and the man stopped near a parked car. They moved closer again, and this time the kiss was even more explicit. Daniela felt a strange mix of emotions: surprise, confusion, and something else.

She took her phone out of her bag almost without thinking. The camera popped up on the screen. For a second she hesitated. It wasn’t her business. She had no right to interfere, but then she remembered the conversation in front of the restaurant. She remembered how Alejandro had asked if the baby was his. She remembered the confusion on his face. Daniela carefully raised her phone.

From where she stood, across the street, she could see Camila and the man perfectly. The two were still embracing next to the car. Daniela pressed the camera button. The sound of the photo being taken was almost Imperceptible amidst the noise of traffic. She lowered her phone slowly, looked at the image on the screen.

The photo was clear. Camila was perfectly visible kissing the man. Daniela took a deep breath. She didn’t know exactly what she was going to do with that photo. She put her phone in her bag. Across the street, Camila and the man separated. The man opened the car door and she got in. The car started a few seconds later.

Daniela watched as the vehicle disappeared into the traffic. The wind gently moved her hair. She placed a hand on her stomach. The baby moved again. Daniela began to walk slowly along the sidewalk. As she walked, her mind kept replaying the scene she had just seen. She knew that image could change many things, but she still wasn’t sure what she should do with it.

Meanwhile, in his office, Alejandro was finishing a meeting with several partners from his company. The conversation was about a new project that was growing rapidly. The numbers were good. Everything indicated that the business was headed in the right direction. But when the meeting ended and  The partners left the room, and Alejandro remained alone, staring at the table.

His mind returned to Daniela and the baby. He did n’t know that at that very moment, a photograph had just captured a truth that would change everything he thought he knew about his relationship with Camila. Daniela continued walking along the sidewalk after the car Camila had gotten into disappeared into traffic.

Her steps were slow, not from tiredness this time, but because her mind was filled with thoughts she didn’t know how to organize. The noise of the city continued around her: cars passing, people talking on their phones, street vendors offering coffee or fast food. But Daniela barely heard any of it. The only thing she kept seeing in her head was the scene she had just witnessed: Camila kissing that man.

Daniela took out her phone again as she walked. She looked at the screen. The photo was still there, clear, leaving no doubt about what it showed. In the image, Camila was perfectly visible with her arms around the man. The kiss was obvious. There was no other way to interpret it. Daniela stopped.

[music]  She stared at the photo for several seconds. Part of her thought she should delete the image and forget about it. After all, her life was complicated enough. She had a demanding job, a late pregnancy, and plenty of financial worries. She did n’t need to get involved in other people’s problems, but another part of her couldn’t ignore what she had seen.

She remembered Alejandro’s face that night in front of the restaurant. She remembered his voice when he asked the question. “The baby is mine.” There was a mixture of confusion and concern on his face that Daniela couldn’t ignore. She put her phone in her bag and kept walking. Each step seemed to push her thoughts in different directions.

[music] When she reached the bus stop, she sat on the metal bench under a small roof. There were two other people waiting, but no one paid her any attention. Daniela placed a hand on her belly. The baby moved slightly again. She smiled a little. “Hi, Mateo,” she murmured softly. The bus still hadn’t arrived. Daniela took out her phone again, looked at the photo once more , and imagined for a moment what would happen if Alejandro  She saw that picture.

Her relationship with Camila would probably end right then and there. Daniela frowned slightly, but it was really her place to do something like that . She put her phone away again. The bus arrived a few minutes later. Daniela boarded and paid the fare before finding a window seat. As the bus traveled through the city streets, Daniela watched the activity outside.

People walked briskly, businesses opened their doors, life went on as usual, but she kept thinking about the same thing. At the restaurant, Camila seemed like the perfect girlfriend—elegant, kind, calm [music]—but the scene on the street showed something completely different. Daniela took a deep breath.

[music] She remembered again the moment Alejandro had found her outside the restaurant after her shift. He didn’t seem like a man who deserved such a betrayal. Maybe he had made mistakes in his relationship with Daniela. Maybe work had always come before many things, but he had never been a bad person. The bus continued on its way.

Daniela got off a few blocks from her apartment. The sky  It was still gray, and the air had a faint scent of rain. She walked slowly to the building where she lived. [music] When she entered the apartment, she placed her bag on the table and sat down on the sofa. The silence of the place enveloped her once more.

She took out her phone again. The photo was still there. Daniela stared at it for several minutes. The same debate raged in her mind : ignore everything or tell [music] the truth. She got up from  the sofa and walked towards the kitchen.  He opened the refrigerator and took out a bottle of water.  He drank a little while he continued thinking.

Then he returned to the room.  He sat down again and looked at his phone.  I knew I didn’t have Alejandro’s number saved, but there was an easy way to find it.  He accessed his old contacts through email.  He still had several numbers stored there that he’d kept for a long time. He ran his finger slowly across the screen [music] until he found it.

Alejandro Salazar.  Daniela stared at that name for several seconds.  Six months had passed since she had last called him, and now she was about to do it again .  Her finger moved toward the call button, but stopped.  I didn’t want to talk on the phone.  I didn’t know exactly what to say .

Furthermore, showing the photo would be clearer than any explanation.  Daniela opened the messaging app, typed the number, then opened the phone’s gallery and selected the image.  The photo appeared on the screen, ready to be sent. Daniela took a deep breath.  Before pressing the button, he decided to write a short message.

Her fingers moved slowly across the screen.  I think you should see this.  He stared at the message for a few seconds.  Then he looked at the photo again.  The image was clear. Camila and that man kissing without any doubt.  Daniela leaned her back against the sofa.  His heart was beating a little faster than normal.

I knew that message could change many things.  Perhaps Alejandro would get angry. He might think that Daniela was trying to cause problems in his relationship, [music] but he also knew that what she was sending was simply the truth.  He looked at the send button, hesitated for another second, and finally pressed it.

The message went out, the photo was sent.  Daniela left her phone on the table in front of the sofa.  [music] The silence of the apartment filled everything again. Now all that was left was to wait. Meanwhile, in Alejandro’s office, the afternoon was progressing normally.  He was reviewing some documents when his phone vibrated on the desk.

Alejandro looked up.  He saw a notification from a number he didn’t have saved, frowned slightly, picked up his phone, and opened the message.  The image took a second to load completely, and when it finally appeared on the screen, Alejandro felt like the world around him had completely stopped.

Alejandro was sitting in his office when he opened the message that had arrived on his phone. At first he thought it was some work contact or maybe a promotion for some service.  The number wasn’t saved in her address book, [music] so she wasn’t expecting anything important.  But when the image finished loading on the screen, her body remained completely still.

Her eyes remained fixed on the photo. For a second he thought he was seeing things.  He brought the phone close to his face.  The image was clear, too clear.  Camila was in the photo, there was no doubt.  The light dress, the long hair, the shape of her face. Everything matched perfectly, but she wasn’t alone.

Camila was kissing another man.  The kiss didn’t seem casual or quick.  It was a close kiss with arms around each other’s bodies.  The man had one hand resting on her waist.  [music] Alejandro felt a strong pressure in his chest. He looked at the photo again.  His mind began searching for any possible explanation. Maybe it was an old photo.

Maybe it was taken out of context, maybe.  But there was no sign that it was an old image.  The street seemed busy, full of cars.  The place looked like an ordinary city avenue, and Camila seemed completely comfortable in that situation.  Alejandro breathed slowly, trying to understand what he was seeing.

Then he remembered that the message not only had the photo, but also some text.  I think you should see this. Alejandro read the sentence again.  His mind began to connect the pieces.  The number that sent the message, [music] the photo, the situation.  Alejandro checked the number, looking at it more closely. Then, something in his memory was activated.

That number seemed familiar to him.  It wasn’t saved, but I had seen it before.  Alejandro opened his list of old calls on his phone, searched for a few seconds, and then found it.  Daniela, [music] that number had been hers.  Alejandro felt another blow to his chest, so it had been her who sent the photo.

He slowly leaned back in his office chair.  His gaze returned to the screen. The image was still there.  [music] Camila kissing another man.  Alejandro put the phone down on the desk for a moment.  He placed both hands on his face.  He tried to organize his thoughts.   He remembered the night at the restaurant.

She remembered how Camila had acted calmly when they talked about Daniela. He remembered the words she had said.  Don’t let other people’s doubts ruin what we have.  Alejandro opened his eyes, picked up the phone again, and looked at the photo again.  This time he paid attention to the man who was with Camila.

He was tall, well-dressed, and seemed confident.  Alejandro didn’t recognize it, but what was clear was the closeness between the two.  That wasn’t an accidental kiss; it was a kiss between two people who knew each other well.  The phone vibrated again in his hand. Alejandro looked at the screen.  [music] It was a call.  Camila.

The name appeared illuminated.  Alejandro stared at the screen without responding.  The phone kept vibrating.  The call ended after a few seconds.  Alejandro left the phone on the desk.  He looked at the photo one more time.  I felt a mixture of emotions that were difficult to explain. confusion, anger, disappointment.

He got up from his chair and walked to the window of his office.  From there you could see the city spreading out in all directions.  The cars moved like small lights between the avenues.  Life went on as normal for everyone, but for him something had just changed.  Meanwhile, in her apartment, Camila walked around the living room with her phone in her hand.

She had tried calling Alejandro, but he hadn’t answered.  He frowned slightly .  That wasn’t normal.  Alejandro almost always answered her calls.  Camila walked towards the table where her laptop was open. The financial documents he had been reviewing earlier were still on the screen.  The plan with Ricardo was still in motion, but he needed Alejandro to sign certain papers soon.

He picked up the phone again and sent a message.  [music] Everything’s fine.  He waited a few seconds.  There was no response.  Camila sat down on the sofa. Something didn’t feel right.  Meanwhile, in her small apartment, Daniela sat in silence.  The phone was on the table in front of her. Several minutes had passed since he sent the message.

I had not yet received a response.  Daniela took a deep breath.  I didn’t know what was happening on the other side.  Perhaps Alejandro was working.  [music] Maybe I had n’t seen the message yet, or maybe I had already seen it and was trying to understand what it meant.  Daniela placed a hand on her stomach.  The baby moved slightly.

She smiled gently.  “Relax, Mateo,” [music] she said softly, but in her mind there were also questions.  How would Alejandro react?  Would you believe the photo?  Did he think she was trying to cause trouble? Meanwhile, in the office, Alejandro sat back down in his chair, picked up his phone again, opened the conversation with the number that had sent the photo, and wrote a message.

Where was this photo taken?  He stared at the screen for a few seconds, then pressed send.  The message was sent out immediately.  [music] Alejandro placed the phone on the desk and stared at the screen.  I knew that the answer to that question could change many things.  And for the first time since it all began, he felt that the truth was beginning to emerge before him.

The message Alejandro sent remained on his phone screen while he waited for a response.  The office was silent.  Outside, in the hallway, you could still hear some footsteps of employees finishing their shift, but inside the office everything seemed to be at a standstill. Alejandro didn’t take his eyes off the phone.

Only a few seconds had passed , but to him it felt like minutes. Finally, the screen lit up.  A new message arrived.  Daniela had responded.  I took it this morning near the coffee shop on Reforma Avenue.  Alejandro felt a weight in his stomach today.  That meant the image was recent.  There was no doubt about that.  He opened the photo again.

He looked at her again, more attentively.  Every detail seemed more obvious.  Now [music] Camila hugging that man, both of them completely calm in the middle of the street.  Alejandro clenched his jaw.  Her phone vibrated again.  A new message from Daniela.  I didn’t send this to cause trouble.  I just thought I should know.

Alejandro read the sentence twice.  For a moment she didn’t know what to answer.  She remembered the conversation she had had with Daniel the night of the restaurant.  She remembered his expression when he asked her about the baby.  There was something honest about her, something that was now beginning to make more sense.

Alejandro wrote a message.  Thank you for telling me. [music] He pressed send.  Then he placed the phone on the desk and slowly stood up from his chair.  My body felt tense.  He couldn’t just sit around thinking about it.  I needed answers.  He took the car keys and left the office.  As she walked down the corridor, her mind kept repeating the same image.

Camila kissing another man.  When he arrived at the parking lot, he got into the car without wasting any time.  [music] He started the engine.  As he was leaving the building, he picked up the phone again.  He looked for Camila’s contact information, dialed the phone, and it rang several times.  Finally, Camila answered.

“Hello,” he said in his usual voice.  Alejandro did not speak immediately.  Camila noticed the silence. “Alejandro, we need to talk,” he finally said.  [music] Camila frowned, although he couldn’t see her.  “All good?”  “No.”  There was a brief silence. “Where are you?” asked Alejandro.  “In my apartment. I’m on my way.” Alejandro hung up before Camila could say anything else.

The car moved through the city streets as the afternoon traffic began to decrease.  Alejandro was driving with his eyes fixed on the road, but his mind was elsewhere.  He remembered every conversation he had had with Camila during the past few weeks.  He remembered how she had talked about living together, about investments, about the future.

And now that photo stood before him like a crack in everything he believed in.  Twenty minutes later, the car stopped in front of Camila’s building. Alejandro left without even looking around.  The goalkeeper greeted him as usual.  Good afternoon, sir.  Alejandro barely responded with a gesture.  He entered the elevator and pressed the button for his floor.

The seconds inside the elevator seemed to last a long time.  When the doors opened, he walked straight to Camila’s apartment.  He knocked on the door. Camila opened almost immediately.  She had a worried expression.  [music] “What’s wrong?” he asked.  Alejandro entered without answering.

The door closed behind him.  Camila watched him attentively. Alejandro took his phone out of his pocket, unlocked it, opened the photo, and showed it to her .  Camila looked at the screen.  For a fraction of a second her face changed.  It was a small, almost imperceptible gesture, but Alejandro noticed it. Then Camila quickly looked up.

Where did you get that from? Alejandro asked, crossing his arms. Answer the question.  Camila took a deep breath.  It’s not what it seems.  Alejandro let out a small, humorless laugh. [music] Seriously.  Camila walked to the table and left her bag.  That man is a friend.  Alejandro raised an eyebrow.  A friend you kiss in the middle of the street.

Camila stared at him.  It wasn’t a kiss like that .  Alejandro picked up the phone again .  The photo tells a different story.  Camila walked towards him.  Alejandro, you have to trust me.  Alejandro slowly shook his head.  That’s what I’m trying to do.  Camila crossed her arms.  So, listen.  Alejandro waited.

Camila took a breath before speaking.  Ricardo is someone I’ve known for a long time.  Alejandro frowned .  Ricardo.  Camila nodded.  He is a close friend.  Alejandro looked at her in disbelief.  Friends don’t kiss like that .  Camila hesitated for a second.  It was a mistake.  Alejandro clenched his jaw.  A mistake.  Camila took one step closer.

Alejandro, it was nothing important. But the phrase only made Alejandro’s expression harden.  Unimportant .  He repeated those words in his mind.  Then he remembered something.  The documents Camila had mentioned, the investments, the conversation in her office.  Alejandro looked around the apartment. Camila’s laptop was open on the table.

The screen displayed several files.  Alejandro walked towards her.  Camila followed him with her eyes.  [music] What are you doing?, he asked.  Alejandro looked at the screen and immediately recognized some numbers.  It was financial data, data from his company.  Alejandro slowly turned his head towards Camila.

Why do you have this?  Camila remained silent.  The tension in the room became heavy.  Alejandro looked at the screen again.  Then he looked at Camila again and at that moment he began to understand that that photo was not the only problem he was discovering.  The silence inside Camila’s apartment became heavy.

Alejandro kept staring at the laptop screen on the table. The numbers that appeared there were not simply random data.  He knew them too well.  They were financial reports from one of his companies, internal documents that should not be in the hands of anyone outside his office.  Alejandro slowly raised his gaze .

Why do you have this? He repeated in a firmer voice.  Camila remained still for a second.  Her eyes shifted from the screen to Alejandro, trying to assess the situation.  “They’re just files I was reviewing,” he finally replied.  Alejandro frowned .  Reviewing.  Camila took a step towards the table and calmly closed her laptop .

“I told you I wanted to learn more about investing.”  Alejandro crossed his arms.  Learning is one thing, but having my company’s documents on your computer is quite another.  Camila held his gaze.  You yourself said that we could review things together.  Alejandro slowly shook his head.  I didn’t say you could extract internal information.

The atmosphere became more tense.  Camila took a deep breath.  Alejandro, are you exaggerating?  Alejandro took one step closer.  Exaggerating.  Camila lifted her chin slightly.  [music] Yes. Alejandro opened his phone again and showed the photo again.  I’m exaggerating about this too.  Camila looked at the image again.

His expression hardened slightly.  I told you it was a mistake.  Alejandro put the phone in his pocket.  So tell me something.  Camila waited.  Who is Ricardo?  Camila crossed her arms again.  I already told you.  He’s a friend.  Alejandro watched her attentively.  Something in the way he spoke had changed.

She no longer seemed nervous, but rather calculating every word. At that moment, Camila’s phone vibrated on the table.  The two looked towards the device.  The screen lit up.  A name appeared in it. Ricardo.  Alejandro said nothing.  Camila neither.  The phone kept vibrating. Alejandro slowly raised his gaze to her.  Answer.  Camila.  He hesitated.

The phone stopped vibrating.  A second later it rang again.  Alejandro nodded at the phone.  [music] Answer.  Camila picked up the phone. For a moment she thought about rejecting the call, but Alejandro was watching her every move.  Finally, he replied, “Hello.”  Ricardo’s voice could be heard clearly from the other side.

All good.  Camila walked a few steps away from Alejandro, but he could still hear her.  “Yes, everything’s fine,” she replied.  Ricardo continued.  “Have you spoken to him about the documents yet?” Camila closed her eyes for a second. Alejandro felt a pang in his chest upon hearing that phrase. “Camila,” Ricardo asked, noticing the silence.

[music] Camila looked at Alejandro.  He remained completely still.  “Yes!” she finally said. “I’m talking to him now.” There was a brief silence on the other end of the line. [music] “Now,” Ricardo replied in surprise. Camila swallowed. “Yes.” Ricardo lowered his voice. That wasn’t part of the plan.

Alejandro took a step toward her. “Tell him to come,” he said firmly. Camila looked at him. Ricardo heard something on the other end. “What’s going on?” Camila took a deep breath. “Alejandro wants to talk to you.” The silence on the other end was longer this time. Finally, Ricardo answered. “I’m on my way .” The call ended.

Camila slowly lowered the phone. The tension in the room grew even heavier. Alejandro stared at her, his eyes unwavering. “How long have you been doing this?” Camila asked. He didn’t answer immediately. Alejandro continued. “Since before you met me,” Camila sighed. “You wouldn’t understand.

” [music] Alejandro chuckled . “Try it.” Camila looked at him intently. “Things aren’t always what they seem, Alejandro.” Alejandro shook his head. “I can see that.” Camila walked to the window.  [Music] From there, the city lights could be seen slowly coming on. “I thought it would be easier,” she finally said. Alejandro frowned.

Easier than Camila turned to look at him. Convince you. The words hung in the air. Alejandro felt the pressure in his chest growing. Convince me of what? Camila didn’t answer. At that moment, someone knocked on the apartment door. They both looked toward the entrance. Camila walked slowly to the door.

Alejandro watched her . When Camila opened it, a tall man appeared in the doorway. It was the same man from the photo. Ricardo entered the apartment with a calm stride, as if it wasn’t his first time there. He looked first at Camila, then at Alejandro. “So you ‘re Alejandro,” he said with a slight smile.

Alejandro watched him without replying. Ricardo walked to the center of the living room. [Music] “I have to admit something,” he said as he straightened his jacket. This happened a little sooner than I expected. Alejandro stared at him. Who  ” Are you?” Ricardo raised an eyebrow. ” You already heard it on the phone, Ricardo.” Alejandro crossed his arms.

“That doesn’t answer the question.” Ricardo smiled calmly. “Let’s just say I’m someone who sees opportunities.” Alejandro felt his patience wearing thin. “And what was the opportunity here?” Ricardo looked at Camila for a moment before answering. “You, Alejandro.” He frowned. [music] Ricardo continued calmly. “Your money.

” The room fell silent. Camila said nothing. Ricardo walked slowly around the table where the laptop sat. “Your company has grown a lot in recent years,” he said. Alejandro stared at him, unblinking. Ricardo stopped in front of him, and “Successful people like you sometimes get too confident.” Alejandro clenched his fists.

Ricardo smiled slightly, “That’s why this plan was so simple.” [music] He looked at Camila again, “She comes closer. She gains your trust. You sign some documents without paying much attention.” Alejandro felt a surge of anger rise in his chest. Ricardo finished the sentence calmly, “And we disappear with a good chunk of your money.

” The silence in the room  The weight of the moment returned, so heavy it seemed to fill the entire space. Alejandro understood in that instant that Daniela hadn’t just sent him a photo; she had shown him the beginning of a much more dangerous truth. The air inside the apartment felt heavier than before. Alejandro stood facing Ricardo and Camila, trying to process everything he had just heard.

For several seconds, no one spoke. The distant sound of cars outside filtered through the window, but inside the living room, everything was frozen. Ricardo was the first to break the silence. “Don’t make that face,” he said with a slight smile as he walked slowly across the room. “This happens more often than you think.” Alejandro didn’t move.

His eyes were fixed on him. Camila stood near the table with her arms crossed. Her expression no longer had its former softness. Now it seemed cold, almost distant. Alejandro finally spoke. How long had you been planning this? Ricardo shrugged. A few months. Alejandro looked at Camila. Since before I met her. Camila held his gaze. Yes.

The answer was direct. No beating around the bush. Alejandro  He felt a sharp blow to his chest. For a moment, he remembered the first time he had seen Camila at that business gala. He remembered how she had smiled, how she had started the conversation, how interested she seemed in him.

Now everything had a different meaning. Ricardo sat down in one of the chairs with complete composure. The idea was simple, he explained. Camila approached you. You trusted her. [music] Then they started talking about business, investments, opportunities. [music] Alejandro clenched his jaw, and I signed something I shouldn’t have.

Ricardo raised a hand as if he were stating the obvious. Exactly. Alejandro looked at the closed laptop on the table, the documents Camila had been reviewing; now everything made sense. Ricardo continued speaking with the same calm. In a few days, we planned to present you with a couple of documents mixed in with other standard contracts.

[music] Alejandro stared at him, wondering how much money they planned to take. Ricardo smiled. Enough to disappear comfortably. Alejandro felt anger rise in his chest. He looked at Camila again. All this time it was a lie. [Music] Camila didn’t respond immediately. Finally, she spoke. Not everything. Alejandro frowned.

What does that mean? Camila sighed. At first, it was just part of the plan. Ricardo looked at her with a warning expression, but Camila continued. Then things got more complicated. Alejandro watched her closely. Complicated. How, Camila? She didn’t answer. Ricardo stood up from his chair. That doesn’t matter now. Alejandro ignored him.

He looked directly at Camila. Did you change your mind ? Camila looked down for a moment. Ricardo quickly intervened. Don’t listen to that kind of thing, he said firmly. What’s important here is what you already know. Alejandro looked at him coldly. Yes, I know. [Music] Ricardo smiled again.

Then there isn’t much more to discuss. Alejandro raised an eyebrow. [Music] Oh, no. Ricardo put his hands in his pockets. The plan isn’t going to work anymore. Alejandro crossed his arms. That’s all you’re worried about. Ricardo tilted his head slightly. Of course. Camila remained silent. Alejandro  He walked to the table and opened the laptop again.

The files were still there. Financial data, internal company information. Alejandro slowly closed the computer. This is enough to report both of them. Ricardo didn’t seem worried. Don’t exaggerate. Alejandro looked at him incredulously. They tried to steal millions of dollars. Ricardo calmly raised his hands .

We tried, yes, [music] but we did n’t succeed. Alejandro felt his patience wearing thin. Ricardo walked to the door. [music] Besides, I doubt you want a public scandal. Alejandro watched him. [music] Ricardo smiled. Millionaire businessman cheated on by his girlfriend. The media would love that story. Alejandro clenched his fists. [music] Ricardo opened the door.

I recommend you forget all this. Camila looked at him. Ricardo continued. We’ll go our separate ways and you go yours. Alejandro didn’t reply. [music] Ricardo took a step into the hallway, but stopped before leaving. Oh, by the way, Alejandro looked up. You should thank whoever sent you that picture. Alejandro frowned.  “Sir.

Because if it weren’t for that, you probably would have already signed the documents.” Ricardo smiled one last time, and we would already be far away. Then he left the apartment. The door remained open for a few seconds before Camila slowly closed it. Silence filled the room again. Alejandro and Camila stood face to face. Neither spoke.

Finally, Alejandro broke the silence. “So it was all a lie.” Camila shook her head slowly. “Not all of it.” Alejandro let out a bitter laugh. “Seriously?” Camila looked at him with an expression that now seemed weary. “I didn’t expect things to end like this.” Alejandro replied coldly. “Neither did I.

” Camila walked to the sofa and picked up her purse. “I guess you know the truth now.” Alejandro said nothing. Camila stopped in front of the door. Before leaving, she looked at him one last time. “Take care, Alejandro.” The door closed behind her. Alejandro stood alone in the middle of the apartment.

For several minutes he didn’t move. His mind replayed everything that had happened in the last few months. The dinners, the conversations, the promises. It had all been part of a plan. Finally, he took out his  Pulling his phone from his pocket, he opened the conversation with Daniela. The photo was still there. Alejandro looked at the image again.

For the first time since receiving that message, he understood something clearly. If Daniela hadn’t sent that photo, he probably would have lost much more than a relationship. Camila’s apartment fell silent after she closed the door. Alejandro stood in the same spot, staring at the entrance as if waiting for someone to return, but no one did.

The afternoon light streamed through the window, casting long shadows on the floor. Everything seemed too quiet for what had just happened. Alejandro took a deep breath. [music] He felt a mix of emotions, difficult to sort out. There was anger, disappointment, and also a strange sense of relief. If Daniela hadn’t sent that photo, he probably would have signed the documents Camila was preparing for him in a few days, and then everything would have been much worse.

Alejandro walked slowly to the table where his laptop sat, closed it, and placed it on the wooden surface. Then he picked up his phone. He had several missed calls and a few messages from work, but his mind was elsewhere.  He needed to act fast. He left the apartment without another word. He took the elevator down and walked straight to his car.

Once behind the wheel, he turned his phone back on. He dialed a number. The call was answered after a few seconds. “ Alejandro,” came Jorge’s voice. “ I need to see you,” Alejandro said. “Now .” Alejandro’s voice sounded more serious than usual. Jorge noticed it immediately. “What happened?” “It’s a long story .

I’m on my way to the office.” “Okay,” Jorge said. “I’ll wait for you .” Alejandro started the car. As he drove through the city, the sky began to darken. The lights of the buildings and cars gradually came on. The traffic was moving slowly, but Alejandro barely noticed. His mind kept replaying every word Ricardo had said.

“That’s what your money was for.” It had all been about money. Thirty minutes later, Alejandro pulled into the parking garage of his company building. He drove quickly up to his office. Jorge was already there, sitting at his desk with a curious expression.  Alejandro came in without saying a word. Jorge stood up.

“Now you’ve really worried me,” he said. “What happened?” Alejandro put his keys on the table and took out his phone. “Look at this first.” He showed him the photo Daniela had sent. Jorge stared at the screen for a few seconds. [music] “Camila,” he asked, surprised. Alejandro nodded. “Who ‘s the guy?” “Ricardo.

” Jorge looked up . “Ricardo.” Alejandro took a deep breath. “The man she was planning to rob me with.” Jorge was silent. Alejandro began to recount everything that had happened in Camila’s apartment: the conversation, the documents, Ricardo’s confession. Jorge listened without interrupting. When Alejandro finished, silence filled the office again.

Jorge crossed his arms. “Wow.” Alejandro walked to the window. “If Daniela hadn’t sent me that photo, I probably would have signed those documents in a few days.” Jorge shook his head slowly. “I told you so.” Alejandro looked at him. “Yes, I know.” Jorge sighed. “Well, at least they made a mistake.” Alejandro frowned.

“What do you mean? That they tried to deceive the wrong person?”  Alejandro returned to the desk. “We need to review all the company’s information access .” Jorge nodded. “I’ll do it right now .” Jorge opened his laptop and began checking various security systems. Meanwhile, Alejandro looked again at the photo on his phone, the picture Daniela had taken.

For a few seconds, he thought about her. He thought about the restaurant, the pregnancy, the conversation they’d had on the street. Something inside him began to feel different. But before he could think about that, there was something more urgent. Jorge looked up from his laptop. “Good news.”  “What did you find?” [music] Alejandro asked.

“It doesn’t look like they managed to access anything important.” Alejandro let out a small sigh. Jorge continued. “But I’m going to change all the access codes and block any attempt to enter the system. Do it.” Jorge continued working on the computer. The office fell silent again. After a few minutes, Jorge spoke again.

“You’re going to report this,” Alejandro thought for a few seconds. “I could.” Jorge observed him, but I don’t think it’s worth making a public scandal out of it. Jorge nodded. “That makes sense.” Alejandro looked at his phone again. The conversation with Daniela was still open. Jorge noticed his expression.

“Was she the one who sent the photo?” “Yes.” Jorge smiled slightly. “Then she saved you from a big problem.” Alejandro didn’t respond immediately. [music] He looked at the image once more. “Yes,” he said finally. “She did.” Meanwhile, in another part of the city, Camila was walking down a dark street with her phone in her hand.

[music] She had left the apartment after talking to Alejandro. Now she was waiting by the sidewalk.  A black car pulled up in front of her. Ricardo was inside. Camila opened the door and got in. The car started immediately. Ricardo looked ahead as he drove. [music] Well, that’s it, he said. It didn’t go as planned. Camila didn’t reply.

Ricardo glanced at her. Do you regret it? It took Camila a few seconds to answer. [music] No. Ricardo smiled. Then we’ll look for another opportunity. Camila looked out the window. The city lights flashed by , but she wasn’t thinking about the money; she was thinking about Alejandro and how it had all ended sooner than she expected.

Meanwhile, Alejandro was still in his office looking at the photo on his phone. He knew he had lost something that night, but he also knew that someone else had appeared just in time to prevent him from losing much more. The night was already late. When Alejandro finally left his company building, the city lights twinkled on the wet asphalt.

It had rained a little during the afternoon, and the air felt cooler. He walked to his car with the  Phone still in hand. The conversation with Daniela was still open on the screen. The photo was there, as if it had all happened just seconds ago. Alejandro took a deep breath. For hours he had been busy resolving company matters with Jorge.

They changed security codes, reviewed access to internal information, and confirmed that Camila hadn’t managed to obtain anything truly important. The danger had passed, but now that the work was done, his mind returned to the same place. Daniela, the woman who had sent that photo, the woman who was also pregnant.

Alejandro sat in the car and rested his head against the backrest for a few seconds. He remembered the night at the restaurant. He remembered the surprise on Daniela’s face when she saw him sitting with Camila. He remembered the conversation on the street. The baby is mine. The question had hung in the air ever since.

[music] Alejandro picked up his phone and typed a message. Can we talk? He read it once before sending it. Then he pressed the button. The message went out immediately. Alejandro placed his phone on the passenger seat and started the car.  As he drove through the city, the traffic was much lighter than during the day.

The streets were almost empty in some areas. A few minutes passed, and his phone vibrated. Alejandro quickly answered it. It was Daniela. [music] Her reply was short. Yes. Alejandro typed again. Where are you? A few seconds passed before the reply came. At home. Alejandro looked at the address in the message.

It was the same building where the taxi had dropped her off that night in front of the restaurant. Alejandro turned the steering wheel. The car moved toward that part of the city. During the drive, Alejandro felt a strange mix of emotions. It had been a long time since he had been near Daniela in a quiet moment. Their last conversation had been tense.

Now everything was different. Fifteen minutes later, the car stopped in front of the old building where Daniela lived. It wasn’t a luxurious or modern place; it was simple, with a small entrance and a yellow light above the door. Alejandro got out of the car, looked at the building’s windows, took a deep breath before walking to the entrance, and went up the stairs to  The second floor.

The apartment door stood before him. Alejandro raised his hand and knocked gently. A few seconds passed, and the door opened. Daniela appeared in the doorway. She was dressed comfortably, her hair pulled back. Her expression was calm, but her eyes showed a hint of weariness. “Hi,” she said. “Hi,” Alejandro replied.

For a moment, neither spoke. It had been a long time since they had stood face to face without immediate tension. Daniela stepped aside. [music] “Come in!” Alejandro entered the small apartment. The place was simple but tidy. A sofa, a small table, and an old television occupied the living room. Warm overhead lighting illuminated everything softly. Daniela closed the door.

Alejandro stood for a few seconds. “Thank you for the photo,” he said finally. Daniela looked at him. “I didn’t mean to pry into your life.” Alejandro shook his head. “If you hadn’t sent it to me, I probably would have made a huge mistake.” Daniela nodded slightly. ” I figured something like that.

” Alejandro watched her for a few seconds. Daniela looked more tired.  than the last time he saw her at the restaurant. The pregnancy was much more obvious. Now Alejandro looked at her belly. [music] Silence filled the room again. Daniela noticed. “Do you want to sit down?” she asked. Alejandro nodded.

The two sat facing each other on the small sofa. For a few seconds, neither spoke. Finally, Alejandro broke the silence. [music] “I’m sorry.” Daniela raised her eyebrows slightly. “Why?” “For everything.” Daniela studied him closely. Alejandro continued. [music] “For how our relationship ended.” Daniela sighed softly. “That’s in the past.

” Alejandro shook his head slowly. “Yes, but now I understand many things I didn’t see before.” Daniela didn’t reply. Alejandro looked at the floor for a few seconds before looking up again. “There’s something I still need to know.” Daniela already knew what question was coming. Her hand rested on her belly. Alejandro spoke calmly.

“The baby.” Daniela kept her gaze fixed on him. Alejandro continued. “I need to know if it’s mine.” [music] Silence filled the apartment again. This time it was longer. Daniela looked down at her belly. Her hand moved slowly over the fabric of her clothing. Then she looked up again. Alejandro was watching her intently.

He had been waiting for the answer to that question for weeks. Daniela took a deep breath, but before she could answer, her eyes revealed something Alejandro hadn’t expected. It wasn’t just doubt; it was a mix of emotions he couldn’t yet decipher. And that look made it clear the answer wouldn’t be as simple as he imagined. Daniela’s small apartment was quiet.

Only the distant sound of cars passing by on the street could be heard. Alejandro sat across from her on the sofa, waiting for an answer that he felt could change everything . The question still hung in the air. The baby is mine. Daniela kept a hand on her belly as she looked at Alejandro. Her breathing was calm, but her eyes showed that this conversation wasn’t easy for her.

For several seconds, neither of them spoke. Alejandro could feel his own heart beating faster. He didn’t know exactly what he expected to hear, but he knew he needed to know the truth. Daniela finally looked down at her belly. Mateo moved slightly inside her. That  A slight movement seemed to give her a moment to think.

Then she looked up again. Alejandro was still waiting. Daniela spoke calmly. “When I found out I was pregnant, you and I were still together.” Alejandro felt a small knot in his chest. Daniela continued. “At first, I thought about telling you.” Alejandro didn’t take his eyes off her, but then he remembered how the argument had ended, the door closing, the silence that followed.

Daniela took a deep breath and thought that maybe it was better to go on alone. [music] Alejandro frowned slightly . “Why?” Daniela looked at him sincerely. “Because I didn’t want you to think I was trying to force you to stay with me.” Alejandro looked down for a moment. “I never thought that about you.” Daniela smiled slightly. ” Maybe not now, but at that time everything was too broken between us.

” [music] Silence returned for a few seconds. Alejandro looked up again . “So, it’s mine?” Daniela observed him calmly. “Yes,” the word was clear. Alejandro felt something inside him stop for a moment. He said nothing.  Daniela continued speaking softly. “But there’s something else you need to know.

” Alejandro frowned . “What?” Daniela hesitated for a second before answering. “When I left your apartment that night, it wasn’t just because of the argument.” Alejandro looked at her intently. Daniela continued. “That day I came to tell you something important.” Alejandro felt a strange sensation. ” What?” Daniela looked him straight in the eyes; she was pregnant.

Silence filled the room again. Alejandro stood completely still. The information hit him like an unexpected blow. Daniela continued , “But when I arrived, you were on the phone with one of your partners.” Alejandro vaguely remembered that night: an important call, a contract, a foreign client. Daniela continued.

“I heard you say that at that time you didn’t have time for anything but work.” Alejandro lowered his gaze. ” So I decided not to say anything.” Daniela sighed softly. “I thought that if you couldn’t make room for our relationship, you certainly wouldn’t make room for a baby.” Alejandro felt a sharp pressure in his chest.

“You never gave me the chance to prove otherwise,” he said in a low voice.  She lowered her head. Daniela looked at him. Maybe the baby moved again. [music] Daniela placed both hands on her belly. Alejandro watched the gesture. Months had passed without him knowing anything, months in which his life had continued as normal.

Meanwhile, [music] Daniela had faced everything alone: Elo, work, worries. Alejandro took a deep breath. ” Why did you send me the picture of Camila?” Daniela answered calmly, “Because after seeing you that night at the restaurant, I understood something.” Alejandro hoped you deserved to know the truth. Alejandro remembered the image on his phone.

Camila, kissing Ricardo, he remembered the conversation in the apartment, the plan to rob him. Daniela continued. “I didn’t know if the baby would change anything between us, but I did know that no one deserves to live a lie.” Alejandro was silent. The weight of everything that had happened in the last few weeks seemed to fall on him all at once.

He looked at the small apartment, he looked at Daniela, he looked at the belly where his child was. The same child who had been growing for months without him knowing anything, finally  He spoke. I want to do things right. Daniela watched him cautiously. Alejandro continued. I don’t know what will happen between us, but I do know something. Daniela waited.

That baby isn’t going to grow up without me being there. Daniela didn’t respond immediately. Her eyes showed surprise, but also something else, something Alejandro hadn’t seen in a long time. Hope. The baby moved again. Daniela smiled gently. Mateo seems to agree. Alejandro let out a small laugh. The first genuine laugh he’d had in days.

He leaned forward slightly. I can. Daniela understood what he meant. She nodded. Alejandro slowly placed his hand on Daniela’s belly . For a few seconds, nothing happened . Then the baby moved. Alejandro felt the small movement under his hand. His eyes opened slightly. Daniela smiled. He’s been saying hello a lot lately.

Alejandro didn’t move his hand. In that moment, he understood something he had never considered before. He had spent months focused on his company, his money, his growth. But now, on that little one…  A simple apartment, but he was touching on something much more important. And he also understood something else: that the woman who had tried to protect him from betrayal [music] was the same woman who had always been on his side, even when he hadn’t noticed. Outside.

[music] The city continued its normal rhythm, but inside that small apartment, Alejandro’s life had just changed completely.
