After Philadelphia Eagles crushed the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX, Travis Kelce, who caught just four receptions for 39 yards during the 40-22 defeat, contemplated retirement.
“I’m gonna take some time to figure it out, and I think I owe it to my teammates that if I do come back, that it’s gonna be something that it’s a wholehearted decision,” Kelce said on “New Heights” just three days after the Super Bowl.
“I’m not half-assing it… I think I could play; it’s just whether or not I’m motivated or it’s the best decision for me as a man, as a human, as a person, to take on all that responsibility.”
Little over a fortnight later, the 35-year-old officially announced his plan to return for the 2025 NFL season. “New Heights’” posted on Feb. 27, “From the desk of @killatrav: IT’S TIME FOR YEAR 13.”
NFL analyst Erin Andrews, who’s in the midst of contemplating her own future after her contract extension with FOX expired, strongly reacted to Kelce’s big announcement.
She commented, “Heeeelllllllz ya @killatrav.”
Andrews, who reported from sidelines during the Chiefs’ loss in New Orleans, recalled her emotional postgame moment with Kelce before he left the Superdome.
“The shot they have of him coming from the locker room, now you know he was going up to the suite (where Taylor Swift was sitting), I didn’t. I was just getting off the field and he was just walking out and I was kind of like walking like. ‘[expletive] it,’” she said on the Feb. 11 episode of her podcast, “Calm Down,” which she co-hosts Charissa Thompson.

“I just turned around and I walked up to him because I don’t want to bug him, but like no. That’s our friend and this really sucks. I gave him a hug and said, ‘I’m so sorry. I love you. I’m so sorry.’”
Andrews also stuck up for Swift, who received a round of boos from the Eagles-heavy crowd in New Orleans. “I feel bad for the most famous amazing woman who [expletive] gets booed at the Super Bowl. Get out of here,” Andrews said.
