Kanye West has reportedly been threatened with legal action by Taylor Swift over his controversial remarks on social media regarding her personal life.
In a heated social media post earlier this week (April 10), West made unverified claims involving Swift, suggesting she was involved in a situation with Harry Styles and Justin Bieber.
“I’ll show you an example of bias. Justin Bieber and Harry Styles were both with Taylor Swift and didn’t include me,” he wrote, before adding: “I completely stand by this claim.”
In response, the Daily Mail reported that Swift sent West a cease and desist letter, calling the posts “false, damaging to her reputation, and amounting to inappropriate conduct.”
According to the outlet, a source close to Swift said: “This isn’t just reckless gossip. This is inappropriate behavior toward a woman, meant to damage her personally and professionally.”
The report also claims Swift’s current partner, NFL star Travis Kelce, wants to address the matter directly with West in private.
The same source states that both Styles and Bieber have denied the situation, although none of the individuals involved have made public comments about West’s claims.
West has not yet responded to the alleged legal notice.
Previously, in August of last year, Swift appeared to respond indirectly to West by reclaiming the top spot on the charts, surpassing his latest album with the release of a new edition of The Tortured Poets Department, which included a live version of her song “Thank You Aimee.”
Interestingly, Swift stylized the album title as “thank You aimEe” – with the capitalized “Y” and “E” being interpreted as a subtle reference to West’s nickname “Ye.”
An earlier stylization featured the capital letters “KIM” (“thanK you aIMee”), which many believed was a nod to West’s ex-wife Kim Kardashian.
West and Swift have had a long and tumultuous public history, beginning with the infamous interruption at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards. The tension continued in 2016 when West referenced Swift in his song “Famous,” sparking widespread backlash and ongoing controversy.
