The car door clicked softly behind them.
Grace hadn’t even noticed there was someone else inside.
Now, as Daniel helped her into the front seat, the woman in the back leaned slightly forward, her sharp eyes scanning Grace from head to toe.

She was elegant. Polished. The kind of woman who belonged in places Grace had only seen on TV.
“Daniel,” she said smoothly, “you didn’t tell me you were picking up… company.”
There was something in her tone. Not curiosity.
Possession.
Daniel’s jaw tightened just slightly. “Victoria, this isn’t what you think.”
Grace sat stiffly, clutching her bag, suddenly very aware of how wet and small she looked.
Victoria.
The name echoed in her head.
She didn’t need to ask who she was.
You could tell just by the way she looked at Daniel… like he already belonged to her.
“I see,” Victoria said, a faint smile forming. “Well, this should be interesting.”
—
Daniel took Grace to a private hospital first.
No waiting. No questions.
Within minutes, she was in a warm room, wrapped in clean blankets.
A doctor confirmed everything.
“Twin pregnancy. Early stage, but she’s under severe stress. She needs rest—immediately.”
Daniel nodded, his expression unreadable.
“Make sure she gets everything she needs.”
From the corner of the room, Victoria watched silently.
Her eyes lingered on Grace’s stomach.
Twins.
That detail mattered.
A lot.
—
Later that night, in Daniel’s penthouse, Grace stood near the window, overwhelmed.
The city lights stretched endlessly below her.
It didn’t feel real.
“You should sit,” Daniel said gently. “You’ve been through too much today.”
Grace hesitated. “Daniel… I didn’t tell you sooner because… I was scared.”
“Scared of me?”
She nodded.
He exhaled slowly. “I wish you hadn’t been.”
Silence settled between them.
Then—
“Daniel,” a voice cut in.
Victoria stepped into the room, heels clicking softly against the floor.
“We need to talk.”
He glanced at Grace. “I’ll be right back.”
Grace nodded, though her chest tightened.
—
In the next room, the air shifted.
“Pregnant?” Victoria said bluntly. “With your children?”
Daniel didn’t flinch. “Yes.”
She let out a small laugh—sharp, cold.
“Do you have any idea what this means?”
“I do.”
“No, you don’t,” she snapped. “Our families have already discussed the merger. Our engagement is practically finalized.”
Daniel’s eyes hardened. “It was never finalized.”
“It was understood.”
“Not by me.”
Victoria stepped closer, her voice lowering.
“Daniel, don’t be stupid. That girl? She’s nothing. No background. No connections. She will ruin everything.”
He looked at her for a long moment.
Then said quietly—
“She already changed everything.”
—
The next morning, the news hit like a storm.
“CEO Daniel Hayes Cancels Engagement.”
“Unknown Woman Carrying His Children?”
Photos. Speculation. Headlines everywhere.
Grace stared at her phone, hands shaking.
“I didn’t want this…” she whispered.
Daniel stepped beside her. “Neither did I.”
“But it’s happening.”
—
Days passed.
The pressure grew.
Investors called. His family demanded answers. Victoria didn’t stay silent either.
But Daniel never backed down.
Not once.
—
One evening, Grace sat quietly, holding her stomach.
“Do you regret it?” she asked softly.
Daniel turned to her.
“Regret what?”
“Choosing me… over everything.”
He walked closer, placing a hand gently over hers.
“I didn’t choose you over everything.”
She looked up.
“I chose what matters.”
Tears filled her eyes.
For the first time in her life…
Grace didn’t feel like a burden.
She felt chosen.
—
Months later, when she gave birth to two healthy babies…
Daniel was right there.
Holding her hand.
Tears in his eyes.
“You did it,” he whispered.
No cameras. No headlines.
Just them.
A family that no one saw coming.
—
As for Victoria?
She watched from a distance.
Not defeated.
But changed.
Because for the first time…
She realized something money could never buy—
Being loved… without conditions.
—
And Grace?
The girl who was thrown out into the rain…
Became the woman no storm could ever break again.
