An enraged Tom Wilson takes his anger out on Zack Ostapchuk’s face.
Things have suddenly turned ugly between the Washington Capitals and the San Jose Sharks during the second period of their Saturday game, and it seems to have all stemmed from this incident involving Capitals enforcer Tom Wilson.

Wilson was sent into a rage on Saturday after young Sharks forward Zack Ostapchuk made it his mission to get under Wilson’s skin throughout the game. Ostapchuk’s antics would eventually get Wilson to retaliate during the game’s second period, but unfortunately for Ostapchuk he definitely bit off more than he could chew.
It began with Ostapchuk laying a heavy hit on Wilson in the corner which in turn led to some trash talk between the two men, but it would be a punch from Ostapchuk to Wilson’s already injured face that would finally cause Wilson to explode. Wilson recently required a significant number of stitches to the mouth after he was struck by a deflected puck, and it would seem that Ostapchuk’s punch to that injured area is what caused Wilson to snap.

Wilson immediately dropped his gloves after receiving the punch from Ostapchuk and proceeded to pummel his opponent into submission, beating the brakes off of Ostapchuk with no response of any kind coming from the Sharks forward. It seemed as though hanging on for dear life was all that Ostapchuk could do, with no punches coming back the other way as Wilson landed blow after blow to the head of his opponent.
The trash talk continued in the penalty box between these two and we still have a full period left to play in this one, so it may not be over just yet.
