We were treated to a good dose of controversial plays in the recent games of the Montreal Canadiens.
Regarding last night’s game against the Kraken, live from Seattle, it was especially the overtime goal scored by Brandon Montour that sparked controversy and is generating a lot of discussion today.
However, two experts believe the Canadiens got lucky with their fourth goal scored by Juraj Slafkovsky, which, according to them, should never have been allowed.

Personally, I think it was too close to overturn the goal, but I admit it was borderline.
In the end, to the surprise of many, the goal was awarded to Slafkovsky, allowing the Canadiens to send the game into overtime (and earn a valuable point in the standings), but ultimately, Montreal still fell short.
In the post-game press conference, Slafkovsky himself mentioned that he was surprised the goal was allowed, which speaks volumes.
In the loss, young goaltender Jakub Dobes gave up five goals on 35 shots. He certainly didn’t have his best performance of the season, but we must still acknowledge that he was brilliant, especially in the first period when his teammates came out very “flat.”
At the time of writing, the Canadiens are just one point behind the Columbus Blue Jackets and the playoff spot, but Columbus has a game in hand over Montreal.
