Big news concerning the Montreal Canadiens. In the latest episode of the podcast “Tellement Hockey”, it was revealed that the excellent Vice President of Hockey Communications for the Montreal Canadiens, Chantal Machabée, had to undergo surgery due to a serious injury.

She had to completely step away from the team because of it, and according to journalist Martin Leclerc (Radio-Canada), she should be back in action soon.

They explain that on January 10, when the Canadiens were in Washington to face Alex Ovechkin’s Capitals and there was a snowstorm, Chantal took a very bad fall on the ice.

She quickly returned to her duties with the team afterward, but she was in a lot of pain and had trouble walking, so she eventually sought a more thorough medical evaluation.

The result: she underwent surgery and is currently wearing two braces, which sounds quite serious.

 

What’s truly incredible is that at the time of her injury, the Canadiens weren’t even seriously thinking about the NHL playoffs yet.

Despite that, she told the players and coaches that she would “be back in action” in time for the playoffs and that they would see each other again in the postseason.

Now, weeks later, it turns out Chantal might have been right after all-and maybe they really will see each other in the playoffs.
