Kris Aquino Considers Leaving Metro Manila Amid Health Battle: “Where Will I Be Able to Breathe Fresh Air?”
Kris Aquino, the Queen of All Media, has once again opened up to her followers with a deeply personal and candid update about her ongoing health struggles and her consideration to relocate outside of Metro Manila — possibly for good.
In a series of heartfelt Instagram posts last May 10, Kris detailed the latest developments in her fight against multiple autoimmune diseases while sharing snippets of a recent family visit to the Monasterio de Tarlac — a symbolic place for the Aquino clan. With visible vulnerability and sincerity, Kris expressed the overwhelming challenges she continues to face while battling at least nine diagnosed autoimmune conditions, plus a potential tenth.
“My Lungs Are Suffering”
The 53-year-old TV host and actress, who has mostly been staying out of the limelight in recent years due to her health, revealed that she had to remain confined at home due to a severe lupus flare-up. Her youngest son, Bimby, had to take over her social media content for the week.
“My blood pressure was very elevated — 165/112. Grabe yung lupus flare, my fever was 40.2°C, and my face was purplish red—ang pakiramdam parang nasusunog na. My lungs are suffering the most because of my multiple and very rare autoimmune diseases,” Kris wrote.
She noted that she was currently undergoing a 2D Echo and was scheduled for a PET scan, continuing her exhaustive battery of medical procedures in the hopes of stabilization. “You’re going to get a lot of Bimb,” she added, referring to the increase in her son’s presence on her platforms, as he steps up to support her both online and off.
A Fresh Start Outside the City?
Amid all this, Kris revealed that her team is actively considering relocating from Metro Manila to a province with fresher air and a more healing environment — possibly Tarlac or Bulacan, where her family has deep roots.
“We are choosing where we will be living — kailangan ko ng fresh air and a cooler climate. The sea breeze will be wonderful. May suggestions kayo?” she asked her fans, actively engaging them in her personal journey.
The sentiment resonates not only as a matter of health but of emotional survival. With a body worn out from medications, stress, and frequent hospitalizations, Kris is clearly looking for a place that can offer peace — not just for her body, but also for her soul.
Returning to Her Roots
In a following post, Kris opened up about her heritage and the ancestral homes that could play a part in her next chapter.
“My Lolo Pepe Cojuangco was born in Malolos, Bulacan. Our ancestral home in Malolos has been restored and preserved. My Lola Ma is a Sumulong, taga-Antipolo, Rizal. My Lolo Benigno and Lola Aurora are both from Tarlac,” she shared.
Kris also thanked Tarlac Governor Susan Yap for her support, hinting that a renovation project is already being planned within their family compound in Tarlac’s 2nd district. “Plano namin mag-renovate ng house namin in our family compound in District 2,” she said.
Her caption blended gratitude with nostalgia — a longing to reconnect with her roots, with a place where perhaps, her healing can finally begin.
“Disenfranchised Voter” and Dreams of Peace
Kris also revealed she has been a “disenfranchised voter,” having missed the 2022 national elections due to receiving medical treatment in the United States. She said she missed even the recent Barangay elections for similar reasons.
“After you watch all my videos care of Bimb… please help me decide? Where will I be able to breathe fresh air?” she asked her followers, inviting them to be part of this new turning point in her life.
Kris’s openness in admitting her limitations and struggles is what has kept her deeply connected with her supporters. Despite the glitz of her past TV reign, her current vulnerability makes her more relatable than ever.
A Mother’s Strength, A Fighter’s Spirit
Aside from her possible relocation, Kris also provided a small window into her son Bimby’s academic life. “He is finishing 11th grade, and by June he will start 12th grade. His schooling is hybrid — some classes with teachers present, some online,” she explained.
Despite a grueling schedule of tests, medications, and recovery, Kris reassured her fans that she is not giving up. “You will see more of me because I do have some medyo sad news… but I will continue to do my very best para lumaban at hindi sumuko. You are my prayer warriors. God only wants us to keep the FAITH,” she wrote.
Even as her posts sometimes hint at pain and physical exhaustion, they never lack in hope or determination. She continues to find light, not just for herself but for her children — especially Bimby, who remains her unwavering support system.
Why Tarlac Makes Sense
In her final post, Kris laid out practical — and surprisingly charming — reasons for considering Tarlac as her new home.
“In case you are counting, I now have 9 diagnosed autoimmune diseases plus a 10th that came as a result of [them],” she wrote. “Tarlac is less than 90 minutes away once you enter NLEX. My nephew now grows organic eggs. The fruits — siniguelas, yellow watermelon, mangoes — you can pick from your mango tree outside your home (that’s one of my goals, to have a small mango orchard in my backyard).”
She also mentioned that the local doctors are “magaling at maasikaso,” and that internet access through PLDT Fibr is strong — important for someone whose life is now partly lived online. However, she noted that renovations to make the house livable will take at least six months, and that her need to move is immediate.
A Future Beyond Fame
Kris Aquino’s story has always unfolded under public scrutiny. But today, it’s no longer about ratings or spotlight. It’s about survival, serenity, and finding a place where she can breathe freely — literally and emotionally.
Whether she ends up in Tarlac, Bulacan, or somewhere by the sea, one thing is certain: wherever Kris goes, she carries with her the prayers and hopes of millions who have grown up with her — and now, are growing with her through her most vulnerable, human moments.
