Brady Tkachuk bluntly accuses Canucks of foul play and creates ugly controversy!
Team USA’s 4 Nations Face-Off final ended in heartbreak, with Canada edging them out 3-2 in overtime, and one of its star players is blaming the Vancouver Canucks.
A guest on the Spittin’ Chiclets podcast, the youngest of the Tkachuk brothers complained about how the Canucks organization treated their captain during the recent 4 Nations Face-Off tournament. Quinn Hughes pulled out of the 4 Nations at the last second due to an injury, but as the Tournament went on and players got injured, there were talks that he could step in for the final to help out the Americans.
At first, it looked like Hughes was set to play, but as it was rumoured he was getting ready to travel to Boston, he was completely ruled out from travelling to or playing in the final .
The decision was apparently made as the Canucks organization stepped in and told Hughes he couldn’t go and risk furthering his injury.
“I actually FaceTimed Quinn kind of when he was figuring it out, when people were like ‘Quinn might come, Quinn might not come.’ I think he was all about coming, but I just don’t think he got cleared by Vancouver to play,” explained Tkachuk on Spittin’ Chiclets before throwing a shot at the Canucks.
“Little shady business to begin with; we all know who they were cheering for.”
However, Hughes missed the first two games back for the Canucks and remains a game-time decision for the team’s game tonight against the Los Angeles Kings. He had missed the four games leading up to the 4 nations tournament, and it just feels like he wouldn’t have done Team USA a favour if he had gone not fully healthy.
Or the Canucks.
Team Canada ended up winning 3-2 in overtime on an incredible shot by Connor McDavid thanks to a Mitch Marner’s assist. The entire tournament was incredible and players are now focused and excited for the 2026 Olympics next winter.
While Hughes didn’t get to play at the 4 Nations Face-Off, he’ll surely be a lock for next year’s Olympics as long as he’s healthy.
