DJ LeMahieu’s stint with the New York Yankees might be hanging on the last thread. LeMahieu struggled to perform last season after injuries. The slugger was forced to stay out for most of the season. Upon his return, his performance was not up to the mark.

The Yankees have other options at third base but choose to keep their veteran player. LeMahieu has a strong connection with pinstripes, but injuries have caused him enough pain. After hoping to have a comeback season in 2025, LeMahieu’s recent injury has left him frustrated.

The third baseman was forced to leave spring training due to a strain on his left calf. LeMahieu must get an MRI scan, but he will take a while to return. He is upset after his recent injury and has expressed frustration.

“Are you kidding me? Are you serious right now? Is this a sick joke? “I wanted to come in here this spring and prove I’m healthy. I’m not off to the hottest start with that. LeMahieu said. “I definitely feel very confident in myself. That hasn’t wavered at all. But at the same time, I keep getting blows. It’s discouraging, for sure. I know I’ve got something to give this team if I can stay healthy,”

He further mentioned that he could take a while to get back on the field.

“It’s probably gonna be a little bit before I start doing baseball stuff again,” LeMahieu said via the New York Post.

DJ LeMahieu Must Fight For His Position Upon His Return
It’s going to be a hard run for the Yankees veteran to get back to his position. The Bronx Bombers will place Oswaldo Cabrera for now, but LeMahieu must stay healthy and prove his worth defensively.

Likewise, Cabrera will fill in at the plate in LeMahieu’s absence. Cabrera has been pretty strong at third base, and LeMahieu must fight for his position. The Yanks also have Oswald Peraza as another option to play at third base.

LeMahieu hopes to have a strong season, but there is no timeline for his return. The slugger had limited performance last year and cranked only two home runs in 201 at-bats. Meanwhile, Clarke Schmidt is expected to return to spring training.
