Fans are praying for legendary singer Dolly Parton following a devastating family announcement.
Parton took to social media on Monday night to reveal her husband of almost 60 years, Carl Dean, passed away in Nashville, Tennessee.
He was 82.
“Carl and I spent many wonderful years together. Words can’t do justice to the love we shared for over 60 years. Thank you for your prayers and sympathy,” she wrote in a statement.
Dolly and Carl met on the day she moved to Nashville in 1964 and were married by 1966.
Parton requested privacy for her family, also noting her deceased spouse will be buried after a private ceremony attended by members of their immediate families.
“I am sorry for your loss Dolly. I am glad you two had so many wonderful years together,” someone commented.
“Prayers for you Sweetheart 🙏. You will see him again in Heaven ♥️,” said a second.
“It’s a very sorry to hear of your loss Dolly prayers for you and your family we love you 🙏❤️🙏,” another user wrote.
Dolly Parton Really Wrote “Jolene” Because Of Her Husband
Dolly Parton and Carl Dean kept their marriage out of the public eye for close to six decades. They renewed their vows nine years ago.
The two remained faithful to each other during their marriage, but a bank teller who had an eye on Dean inspired Dolly to write her hit song, “Jolene.”
