An NFL coach destroyed Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders over his performance in an interview with a team.

Shedeur Sanders and Miami Hurricanes star Cam Ward are the consensus top two quarterbacks in the 2025 NFL Draft. Unlike previous drafts, however, there’s no overwhelming favorite to go first overall, with Penn State edge rusher Abdul Carter and Buffaloes two-way star Travis Hunter strong candidates to go before Ward and Sanders.

NFL insider Josina Anderson spoke to a quarterbacks coach from a team with a top-seven pick. According to Anderson, that coach ripped Sanders for coming across as “brash” and “arrogant” during the interview with the unnamed team.

Interestingly, though, Anderson added that the anonymous QB coach has a reputation for having problems with players “who have broad fame and financial success before” turning pro:

“I’m just sharing that this coach’s personal assessment is the direct opposite from how Sanders came across to many reporters in his press conference with the media at the Combine.

Sanders appeared to go out of his way to acknowledge multiple media members, regardless if they were recognizable or not. He seemed cordial, polite, witty, thoughtful along with being confident (as many athletes are).

Alternately, these observations were distinctly different from how another QB prospect came off to some in the media last year in Indy. According to league sources, said QB coach seems to have issue with “the culture” of athletes who have broad fame and financial success before entering the NFL, and in their* opinions, appears to them to have a problem certain athletes—I’ll leave it at that.”

The teams who pick in the top seven (in order from 1-7) are the: Tennessee Titans, Cleveland Browns, New York Giants, New England Patriots, Jacksonville Jaguars, Las Vegas Raiders and New York Jets.

New England and Jacksonville can safely be ruled out of the Shedeur Sanders sweepstakes since they have Drake Maye (the No. 3 pick of 2024) and $275 million man Trevor Lawrence, respectively.

Shedeur Sanders Will Be A Top-10 Pick

Sanders may be considered a boom-or-bust prospect, but he’s sure to be a top-10 selection given how many teams need a quarterback.

The son of Pro Football Hall of Famer Deion Sanders, Shedeur had a monster 2024 season that saw him throw for 4,134 yards, 37 touchdowns and only 10 interceptions. His giant following and status mean he’ll also sell plenty of tickets and merchandise for the NFL team that drafts him, too.
