Buffalo Sabres analyst Rob Ray endured a broadcasting moment that he’ll never forget during Saturday evening’s home game against the Buffalo Sabres.

Following a two-week for the 4 Nations Face-Off tournament, 28 of the 32 NHL teams returned to the ice on Saturday. That included a Sabres’ home clash against the New York Rangers at the KeyBank Center.

Rob Ray was placed at ice level to call the game between the two team benches. Late in the first period, a puck went out of play and hit Ray right in the forehead — and he dropped a giant F-bomb on live television:

Thankfully, Ray was just fine and continued to perform his analyst duties. But boy, did that puck to the forehead leave quite the mark:

The Sabres came into Saturday’s clash against the Blueshirts with a 22-27-5 record, last in the Eastern Conference.. Barring a historically good finish and a collapse by the teams in front of them, Buffalo will miss the postseason for the 14th straight year.

But the Sabres pummeled the Rangers into submission on Saturday, so it looks like Lindy Ruff’s squad is more than happy to embrace the spoiler role.

Rob Ray Played 14 Seasons With Sabres

Ray played 16 seasons in the NHL, including 14 with the Sabres (1989-90 to 2002-03). Known more for his fists than his scoring abilities, Ray racked up 3,207 playing minutes during his playing career.

He finished with 41 career goals and 90 points in 900 games.
