“All love and respect always nothing negative here.”

Serena Williams has quieted talk of her Super Bowl appearance beside Kendrick Lamar being a “petty” move meant to bother her ex, Drake.

The athlete’s statement comes after her husband, Alexis Ohanian, defended her against remarks made by Stephen A. Smith and Jason Whitlock, with the latter calling him a “beta” and “simp” for doing so and accusing Williams of still being hung up on her ex, the “Gimme A Hug” artist.

“That there my baby daddy and husband. Always got my back. I Love you,” she wrote, thanking her hubby for speaking up on her behalf. “Gosh I’m so late to the game (I’ve been sick) & busy investing in billion dollar companies and running @WYNbeauty… def not dancing to be petty lol.”

Ohanian’s defense of his wife included him explaining that her crip walk during Lamar’s set was a reference to the star catching hell for doing the same during the 2012 London Olympics.

Williams continued, “I think I proved 23 times over (not counting 4 gold medals) that I simply don’t have time for petty. All love and respect always nothing negative here.”

The clarification comes about a week after Drake reacted to the move, taking to his burner Instagram account, @plottttwistttttt, to share a picture of himself and Jill Smoller, Williams’ longtime agent. The snaps were taken at a 2015 tennis event where he was supporting Williams from the sidelines. Other snaps from the match find him speaking with Venus Williams and watching the game with OVO Chubbs.

Serena and Drake dated on-and-off between 2011 and 2015, with Drizzy taking shots at the tennis pro and her husband in the years since. His 2022 song “Middle Of The Ocean” found him rapping of Ohanian, “Sidebar, Serena, your husband a groupieHe claim we don’t got a problem but no, boo, it’s like you comin’ for sushi/ We might pop up on ’em at will like Suzuki.”
