We woke up to some very sad news this morning involving Montreal Canadiens forward Brendan Gallagher.

The big-hearted forward publicly announced the passing of his mother himself by sharing a long and emotional message.

We want to extend our sincerest condolences to him and his entire family this truly breaks our hearts.

Just like her son, Della Gallagher was a true warrior

As journalist Stu Cowan pointed out, she fought against illness for so long and remains a true inspiration to us all.

“My deepest condolences to Brendan Gallagher and his family after he announced on Instagram that his mother, Della, has passed away following a battle with brain cancer. RIP.”

As you can imagine, ever since the news broke, a huge wave of support and love has been flooding social media for Brendan Gallagher and his entire family.

 

Brendan has every reason to be extremely proud of his mother.

Clearly, there’s a lot of her in Gallagher, and we see it every single day.

She, too, has every reason in the world to be proud of her son.

As many have pointed out, the small gesture he made after scoring his goal (on Tuesday against the Ottawa Senators) now holds a very different meaning.

 

 

 

Losing his mother and welcoming his first child (a baby girl) within a few days is an emotional whirlwind, to say the least.
